Lots of people complain about the lack of nightlife in SLC. Well now that Summer is officially here those folks can drink a nice tall glass of “Shut the Hell up!” We have free concerts tonight, tomorrow afternoon, and all day Saturday. Who else has that? No one, that who. SLC rocks in the summer. Leave your wallet at home and enjoy the show. (Don’t actually leave your wallet at home if you want to be able to pay for beer.)

Tonight July 21st, 2011The Decemberists and Typhoon @ Pioneer Park for the Twilight Concert Series @ 7:00             Cost: Free!!!

The Decemberist are a rcokin’ Portland band that are coming to rock out in SLC tonight. The second week of SLC’s Twilight Concert series kicks off tonight at 7:00pm and the best part is it is free. Don’t forget to bring some cash for the not free beer.

Tomorrow July 22nd, 2011Fleet Foxes @ Red Butte Gadens @ 7:30pm Cost: $30 (Sold Out)

The Red Butte shows are always a bit pricey and the best bands always sell out. Luckily if you are a crafty little fella as I am sure all our readers are you can hike in and watch for free from above up on the hill. This show will be well attended in the hills. Another benefit of hiking in is that you can BYOB.

Saturday July 23rd, 2011Anders Osborne @ Canyons @ 6:00pm  Cost: Free

Canyons also kicked off there free concert series last week and this week they are featuring funky rocker Anders Osborne. A special note from Canyons: You can bring your own chair, but it has to be a lowrider. Chairs 9″ or shorter will be allowed at the venue and taller camp chairs are not allowed. If you don’t have a shorty chair you can buy one at the event. (How convenient…)

July 21st-July 25th, 2011Salt Lake Bees Games @ Spring Mobile Park (1300S 77W) @ 7:05pm Cost: $8+

Yes the Bees are struggling this season, but that is not reason to hate. Head down to the park during this 5 games in 5 days home stand and cheer on out local sluggers. Tickets are cheap and beers are not too bad.

July 23rd, 2011 Folk and Bluegrass Festival @ The Gallivan Center @ 2:00-10:00pm Cost: Free!!!

Get your toe tap on at the Bluegrass festival at the Gallivan all day on Saturday. I have not seen the place since they remodeled in last year. I am figuring it is wicked cool, so if you are down with free music for three days in a row this is the way to do it.
