The WS100 group left Squaw at 5am

The Western States 100 race, a 100 mile unltramarathon left Squaw just yesterday morning at 5am and the results are in. Spain’s Kilian Jornet wins with a time of 15 hours, 34 minutes despite falling behind after taking a wrong turn that cost him a few miles. Coming in second place was Mike Wolfe of Helena Montana at a time of 15:38 and third place was Nick Clark of Colorado with a time of 15:50.

Kilian Jornet, the 23 year old, is already a heavy hitting and accomplished long distance runner, mountain biker and duathlete. Kilian got third place last year in the same race that was won by Geoff Roes of Juneau AK. Roes backed out of this years race around the half-way mark. In 2010 Roes set the race record at an impressive 15:07:04.
