squaw valley powder day may 16

squaw valley powder day

This morning as of 7am, on May 16th, 2011 Squaw is reporting 13-20 inches of new snow and temperatures of 24F at the base and 17F up top.  Yep, those are definitely MID-WINTER figures in MID-MAY.

At my house in the valley we got  about 4 more inches since yesterday at 7am.  Skies are overcast but the visibility is good.

How hard it snowed all freakin’ day at Squaw yesterday, May 15, 2011.

Headwall did not open yesterday and is on the schedule for today. This is potentially huge if the conditions are good up there as we’ll be able to access an enormous amount of untouched terrain from the top of the Headwall chair including potentially The Palisades.  We’ll see.  I’ll keep ya updated on Twitter.

Yesterday on KT the conditions were pretty brutal with an evil ice layer underneath that could not be escaped.  But, since then it’s snowed a helluva lot and hopefully settled enough to keep us on top up on Headwall today.

What’s really crazy is that ANOTHER  STORM is on it’s way here tonight that is gonna dump another foot!
