After all that annoyingly deep blower 5% powder of the past months, it was about time that we got back to our heavy, dense, wind-pressed California snow. Honestly, it’s my favorite. You can rip the steeps, haul ass, stay on top, and huck your guts to your little heart’s content. This past Thursday, March 3rd, was one of those days, and it was truly toothsome. The complete lack of lift lines set everything up for the perfect “Le Tour de Squaw Valley” and many a ski/skate week weary skier took advantage. Le Tour was, in a word, magnifique.
