It seems that most skiers and snowboarders really dig on sushi. Takashi is certainly the best sushi available in SLC and possibly one of the best places to eat raw fish and other japanese cuisine in the entire country. Located in downtown Salt Lake on Market st. right next to the Oyster Bar, The New Yorker and the Market Street Grill, Takashi has some serious competition for great food on the same damn block. This really isn’t a problem for Mr. Takashi and his restaurant since they slay it so hard.
With banger rolls like the Downtown (pictured above) Takashi will rock the hell out of your taste buds for prices that are not too far North of standard sushi costs. I had always been told how expensive the place was and I am going to have to disagree. It seemed like the roll prices were almost exactly the same as all the other sushi joints in town, but the quality was through the roof.
Takashi does sport a menu that goes way beyond rolls; however, I am a roll lover and I did not explore into the other hot and cold dishes. The guy next to us did have this steak town thing where strips of steak were stacked up cross-hatch style with tempura fried veggies. I looked pretty sick.
So the next time you have a couple bucks to spend, or your parents come to town, or a buddy from college that actually has a real job comes to visit and wants to thank you for all your hospitality get downtown and check out Takashi. It will be worth the effort and if you don’t pay it will be the best free food you ever eat.
