chuck patterson

Chuck Patterson made such a huge explosion on this landing that I couldn’t see the rock he’s jumping off for a sec.

Squaw was absolutely incredible last week.  Bottomless pow, hucking to your hearts content, and getting more face shots than you’ve even thought possible.  That all ended with the beautiful California sun and about 1 million kids on ski/skate week.  The mountain got skied hard.  Real hard.  Two days ago the entire mountain was a bumpfest that even Johnny Moseley woulda been appalled with.

Just look how perfect the powder was.

So, yesterday we headed over to Donner to see how things were looking.  Things were looking damn good.  Donner peak was actually pretty wind hammered, but the Double Secret  zone was untouched by the wind.  We found some of the most perfect, blower, light weight powder of my life and in large supply.

chucky turn

Chucky P. making a one turn wonder for the camera.

You could basically launch off anything you wanted with your eyes closed and still end up right were you wanted to be – covered in snow and laughing your ass off.

granite donner

Beautiful granite peaks on Donner Pass.

It was by far my best Donner experience ever and I can’t wait to go back after this next storm.  Whatta a great spot and I got to do it with two great friends Ryan Salm and Chuck Patterson.
