The 2011 US Extreme Freeskiing Championships went off this past weekend up the road in Crested Butte. This was the 20th anniversary of the event and the conditions couldn’t have been better. A solid base this year as well as snowfall throughout the weekend provided prime, hero conditions. The comp was DOMINATED by Vermont and local Crested Butte athletes throwing down some crazy, technical lines. The men’s title went to Vermonter, Lars Chickering-Ayers, with CB local Tom Runcie in second and Lars’ younger brother Silas Chickering-Ayers in third. Also in the top ten were three other Crested Butte locals, Caleb Mullen, Ryan Sutton, and Rob Dickinson as well as Mad River/Alta skier Dylan Crossman. Of note in 10th place was Aspen ripper Nick Devore competing on Teles, pretty SICK for sure! The ladies’ podium went to Snowbird’s Angel Collinson on top with former US bump skier Emiko Torito in second, and Jay Peak/Alta’s Ashley Maxfield in third. Telluride local Scott Kennett took third in the Master’s division, nice job Scott! Enjoy the highlights and check out FreeskiingWorldTour.com for additional videos, pics, and full results.
