AN AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CENTERED OFF THE PACIFIC NORTHWEST COAST
WILL BEGIN TO SPREAD HEAVY SNOW INTO NORTHEAST CALIFORNIA WEST OF
HIGHWAY 395 TUESDAY AFTERNOON. SNOW WILL INCREASE IN INTENSITY
AND SPREAD SOUTH AND EASTWARD TUESDAY NIGHT INTO WEDNESDAY AS
THIS LOW PRESSURE MOVES INLAND AND PUSHES A STRONG COLD FRONT
THROUGH THE REGION.
ALONG THE COLD FRONT WEDNESDAY...A PERIOD OF HEAVY TO VERY HEAVY
SNOW IS LIKELY. SNOWFALL RATES OF 3 INCHES PER HOUR OR MORE ARE
POSSIBLE IN THE SIERRA...WITH 1 TO 2 INCHES OF SNOW PER HOUR
POSSIBLE ACROSS WESTERN NEVADA.

4 PM PST WEDNESDAY...

A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR HEAVY SNOW AND GUSTY WINDS REMAINS IN
EFFECT FROM 4 PM TUESDAY TO 4 PM PST WEDNESDAY.

* TIMING: SNOW WILL BEGIN WEST OF HIGHWAY 89 TUESDAY
  AFTERNOON...INCREASING IN INTENSITY AND SPREADING INTO THE
  REST OF THE TAHOE BASIN TUESDAY NIGHT THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS: 1 TO 2 FEET AT LAKE LEVEL WITH 3 TO 5
  FEET ABOVE 7000 FEET. THE HIGHEST AMOUNTS WILL BE ON THE
  WEST SIDE OF THE LAKE.

* WINDS: SOUTHWEST 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 6 MPH ON TUESDAY
  EVENING BECOMING WEST 10 TO 20 MPH WITH GUSTS UP TO 35 MPH LATE
  WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON. SIERRA RIDGE WILL GUST TO 100 MPH OR MORE.

* STRONG WINDS AND HEAVY SNOW WILL CREATE LOCAL WHITEOUT
  CONDITIONS OVER MOUNTAIN PASSES TUESDAY NIGHT AND WEDNESDAY.

* IMPACTS: HEAVY SNOW WILL CAUSE DANGEROUS TRAVEL CONDITIONS IN
  THE TAHOE AREA TUESDAY AFTERNOON INTO WEDNESDAY. THE WORST
  CONDITIONS WILL EXIST OVER SIERRA PASSES...INCLUDING INTERSTATE
  80...AND HIGHWAYS 50...88...89 AND 431.
