Waking up early is always worth it for powder. Sometimes it is hard to get up, but you gotta if you want to eat that big juicy worm. Hiking 3 hours for powder is also always worth it if the powder is really good.  The snow on Mt. Superior was good enough to make both worth it today!

Unfortunately for Miles Clark of Unofficial Squaw this Utah trip did not work out. Yesterday, his first day in Utah after an all night drive with young Tahoe shredder Eric Bryant,  Mr. Clark broke his face (Story coming soon) with his knee after front flipping a cliff in Bad News at Alta.  This cut the trip short for the two Cali boys, but Eric and I got up early today and nailed Superior before they hit the road home.

The hike was really not too bad. We  ran into Unofficial Whistler writer Jake Cohn half way up to Cardiff Ridge. Jake is in town for the Salt Lake Shootout and I wish him luck.  The knife edge up high was nice and spicy. I dig exposure, but if you are afraid of heights you would not be too happy looking down the steep rock strewn slope on each side of you.  The ride down was super fun and the rumor is true….it really is not that steep. This was my first time all the way to the top of Superior and it was just as good as I had been dreaming.  So, if you are like me and have been putting off getting up there, put in the work as soon as you can and have fun.
