Our little ski flick G.N.A.R. is nominated for Best POV and Best Documentary at the Powder Video Awards. You can watch the show LIVE tonight at powderawards.com. Here is the lowdown.

Aspen, CO. (January 27, 2011) – The 11th annual POWDER Video Awards and Readers Poll is on tap for Friday night in Aspen. Be sure to tune in for the live webcast, atpowderawards.com! The event draws the who’s-who of the ski industry to The Wheeler Opera House in Aspen, Colorado, to pay tribute to the year’s best ski performances and cinematography.

The 2011 POWDER Video Awards and Reader Poll Presented by Samsung and Verizon Wireless will take place January 28th, 2011, at the historic Wheeler Opera House, in Aspen, Colorado. Attendance is by invitation only, but the folks who aren’t able to attend can tune into the website beginning at 8:00 p.m. (MST) with live red carpet arrivals immediately followed by the live show beginning at 9:00 p.m. (MST).

Hosting the ski industry’s most anticipated award show is Mitchell Scott, one of North America’s more prolific story purveyors. A long-time contributor to POWDER Magazine, editor and publisher of Kootenay Mountain Culture–of the continent’s more cherished independent outdoor titles–and recently a director, producer and actor in a host of hilarious viral marketing videos (Google “Red Sucks if you don’t believe us”), Mitchell gets around. In a good way. “I’m, like, so mega super stoked about hosting the Powder Video Awards,” says the Nelson, BC resident and diehard skier. “I’m willing to bet my last loonie that Friday night, in the Wheeler Opera house, downtown Aspen, s*&t is going to get rad!”

Colorado-born Renee Herlocker will be returning to the red carpet tomorrow night, working her magic with Athletes, VIPs, and various celebrity guests. She is one of the fastest rising hosts in the business, having hosted everything from red carpet events to her own energetic webisodes showcasing “Renée’s World: Life My Way.” Her quick wit and sarcastic attitude entertains, but it’s her girl-next-door mentality that makes her able to connect with audiences. Renée grew up in Aurora, CO a suburb of Denver. She claims she was and still is a “tomboy in a tutu,” and says her upbringing will forever keep her feet firmly planted on the ground. Renée now resides in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Since 2000, the PVA’s have been recognized by the industry, athletes and skiing community as the premier ski awards. Continuing to be the must-attend party during Winter X Games in Aspen, those lucky enough to get in the door experience one of the most intimate events of the year.

Additionally, for the first time ever, Denver, Colorado, home to the SIA Snow Show, will host an exclusive satellite viewing party at The Oak Tavern. VIP Happy Hour is from 7:00 – 8:30 p.m.

Attendees will include the industry’s most recognized athletes, top ski industry executives, pro ski icons, national media, and guest celebrities. For those opting to enjoy the show from the comfort of their own home, a live webcast will be made available to be accessed by viewers from around the globe.
