Frenchman Kevin Rolland nails three double corks to take out Simon Dumont and win the gold in Skiing SuperPipe at Winter X Games 14

The IOC's executive board gave IOC presdient Jacques Rogge a personal mandate to make the final decision himself.  (Hopefully Jacques can fully comprehend the nastiness of double corks and truck driver grabs.)

It's apparent that the IOC is looking upon these seven events agreeably.  "The atmosphere was very positive," said IOC spokesman Mark Adams . "I think we would characterize it to say that the executive board is looking favorably on all of those [the 7 events] for inclusion."

The IOC did decide that ski cross (men and women) and women's hockey , which were provisional in Vancouver, would be present in Sochi.  Team alpine skiing, however, was the one proposed event that has been rejected for Sochi 2014.  At this point it looks like we'll have to hold our breath about 6 more months to find out more.

The seven events being considered for Sochi 2014:

– Women's Ski Jumping
– Ski Halfpipe (Men and Women)
– Ski Slopestyle (Men and Women)
– Snowboard Slopestyle (Men and Women)
– Biathlon Mixed Team Relay
– Figure Skating Team Event
– Luge Team Relay
