Judges Nate Holland and Kerry Todd look on with others in disgust as contestants munch away at last year's event.

Mamasake Sushi & Wasabi Eating Contest

What: How mush Sushi and wasabi can you eat and can you eat it faster than the other contestants.  †

When: Friday, April 23rd at 4:00 pm

Where: Mamasake restaurant, Squaw Valley

Snow Golf

What: There isn't much advertised for this event but it does say register at the top of the Summit chair and that you need not bring anything but yourself. They provide clubs and balls.  This seems a little fishy to me that a ski resort would let anyone whack a golf ball atop their mountain like this picture above but hey, keep you fingers crossed and bring lots of beer.

When: Saturday April 24th, 9:30 – 3:00

Where: Alpine Meadows Ski Resort

Cost:  Must have season pass or lift ticket

Earth Day Celebration

What: North Tahoe and Truckee have the largest and most popular Earth Day celebration in Tahoe held in the Squaw Valley Village.  Many vendors will be set up throughout Squaw to promote and discuss their approach to a greener planet and help inform the public.  And of course there will be at least three different bands playing throughout the festival so everyone can take off their shoes and do the hippie dance.  But for real this is a cool event that brings out a lot of people and it's obviously for a good cause.  For more information visit tahoetruckeeearthday.org

When: April 24th, 11:00 – 5:00 pm

Where: Squaw Valley Village

Cost:  Green events are usually free so expect lots of green shwag like key chains and free energy efficient light bulbs.

Squaw Passholder Appreciation Party

What:  Squaw wants to thank all of its season pass holders by treating the upper class passholders to a free lunch and live music.  Either way it should be a party that you should bring beer to and if the weather is nice the hot tub should be cozy too.

When: April 25th, 12:00 – 3:00ish

Where: High Camp, Squaw Valley

Cost: This is definitely an event involving passholder hierarchy.  If you have a Platinum pass you get free lunch and you get to hang out with Nancy.  If you have a Gold pass you get just a free lunch and if you have anything less you have to pay but you are allowed to hang out with all the other people above you.
