Unofficial Podcast: Tom Burt : Cordova Peak First Descent

By

Check out the latest Unofficial Podcast!  In April of 1997, Tom Burt and Doug Coombs became the only people to snowboard and ski Cordova Peak, in Alaska. Cordova Peak is about 7400 feet above sea level, is 26 miles Northeast of Cordova, and has a sustained 54 degree slope. Tom's descent had many dangers; bergschrunds, black and blue ice, cliffs, and fast moving sluff. Tom nailed the line with perfect sluff management, fast turns, and most importantly, he didn't die. Standard Films was filming Tom, and you can see the footage in TB6: Carpe Diem.
