It has been an amazing trip thanks to good friends, good skiing and an excellent contest. The mountain is so sweet with tons of terrain and features everywhere you look, 5600 feet of vertical and not very many people to track it up. It’s definitely worth checking out if you ever get the chance! Our first day we hiked around and familiarized ourselves with the resort, skied a bunch and checked out the day one comp venue. My legs were fully sore before the comp even began and getting worse everyday, but the skiing was so fun I couldn’t stop. We tore it up on the weather day cruising all over the mountain and having the privilege of skiing with a few of the locals. These guys are super strong skiers and it’s easy so see why. Additionally, all over town people were incredibly nice and were happy to have the tour in their town. I can’t wait to come back!
The day one venue was big and filled with choices so it was fun to poke around and see what would work. Snow conditions were very good for a contest, fast and almost firm, but forgiving enough to ease the landings a little. It was rad to see so many great skiers tearing that venue apart. The finals demanded a visual inspection as we’d get a heli bump to the top. I chose pretty reasonable lines and skied them as inspected and pretty fast and things worked out.
