Me grabbing a “Ski Lake Tahoe” turn off a peak on the West Shore
Headed out to do some backcountry on the West Shore yesterday with my buddies Nat, Phil and Ryan. We got out early and were skinning by 6:30am. It had been a long time since I’d done a West Shore dawn patrol. Halfway up the sunrise was brilliant and cold. As we traversed along the ridge the east wind showed It’s ugly face. The upper slopes were wind hammered but still skiable. Lower down, the snow was light and creamy. We weren’t able to ski the lines we’d come for, but we got the camera out a worked a few cliffs and powder fields. The tree skiing down to the car was a sweet end to the day.
