Following last weeks cold spell, beautiful Fall weather has returned to the Valley with sunny skies and high’s in the mid-60’s through Thursday.- With the winter pounding that Colorado received last week and the low pressure system forecast to drop down South by the weekend, these next fews days might be a good time to get out and get some good hikes in. Here’s what the Weather Geek has to say… MONDAY NOV. 2, 5:14 AM!Tahoe’s warming trend will continue today and at least through Wednesday under the influence of a strong ridge of high pressure that’s sitting over the western United States. Highs today will be into the 60s around the Lake, about 10 degrees above normal for early November. Winds are forecast to remain calm. Any overnight fog that forms in the mountain valleys should burn off by early morning. A series of storms forming in the Gulf of Alaska are still forecast to reach Northern California by this weekend, possibly earlier. What’s not clear is when they will arrive and how far south the precipitation will come. At the moment the forecast is for a low pressure system to drop south by Thursday but remain over the ocean. It look as if it will split into two pieces, with one piece coming ashore late Thursday or Friday but not packing much punch as it arrives. The other piece could become a “cut-off” low, which is a low pressure system that is split off from the main low and meandering off the coast for a day or two. It would eventually come inland, but it is impossible to predict when and on what trajectory. Meanwhile, a trough of low pressure from the Gulf is forecast to move south in the wake of this low, which would open the storm door for further systems next week. The bottom line: fair through Wednesday, then expect at least some cooling and possibly some precip by the weekend. For those of you in the valley, the overnight fog that settles is really erie.- I swear we saw at least two dead people cruising around Hole #7 last night, but unfortunately were equipped only with camera phones so could not document.- Maybe next time…
