I have to throw my two cents into the this years ski review after reading all this Volkl and Dynastar propaganda.- I just got my new quiver for this year, it includes the Rossignol RC 112 and Rossi S7.- I have not skied either yet, but I have talked to several people about both skis and the reviews have been very good. The RC112 is a stiff, wood core, early-rise tipped, big mountain super shredder ski with dimensions 140-112-120.- Extremely burly and large but the early-rise tip I hear makes it float great in the powder and its conventional camber and side-cut make it tear up variable and hard pack snow.- A perfect competition ski or day after a huge dump at Squaw.
The S7 is the twin tipped, odd shaped and cambered big mountain, powder ski with dimensions 145-115-123.- It has rockerd tip and tail but with conventional camber under foot, as well as reverse side-cut at the tip and tail with traditional side cut under foot.- This makes it super floaty in pow but also you can keep it together in variable conditions and on the groomers.- Great for bottomless powder days.
Rossignol does not get skied much at Squaw and I don’t know why.- They have the perfect flex and dimensions for Squaw skiing and beyond, true big mountain skis designed and still made in the mother land of France.- Super burly construction, I have skied Rossi the past two years and no delams, broken edges, etc.- I have landed square under foot on rocks many times and no major damage just a few little scratches on the bases.- The only down side they are a little expensive, but its worth it because they last for a long time.- Oh yea, they also make great freeride boots as well, check out the B-Squad Carbon 130.
