Austrian ski race legend Hermann Maier announced he is retiring from competition after 13 years of competition. The 36 year old said he has made the decision based on physical problems. Back in 2001 Hermann was in a terrible motorcycle accident where he almost lost his leg. After two years of recovery Hermann came back and won the overall title in 2004. Hermann Maier is one of the most decorated ski racers of all time and he will be missed on the circuit I’m sure. This video clip was of him at the 1998 Nagano Olympics. He had this horrendous crash on the first day, recovered and then won the next two events.
