tahoe-tioga pass driving directions

As Yosemite National Park announced yesterday, the Tioga Pass on Highway 120 has opened for the season at 10 a.m. today.- This is just in time for this Memorial Day weekend coming up, however, if you are planning a trip down to Yosemite keep in mind the crowds and be sure to plan ahead. Tioga Pass, at an elevation of 9,943 ft., serves as the eastern entry point for Yosemite National Park.- It is the highest highway pass in California and in the Sierra Nevada.- With the pass open, it cuts over an hour off of a commute from Tahoe. For those who have never been to Yosemite National Park, it is well worth the trip down (just maybe not this weekend).- In fact, some of the Unofficial team just returned from a weekend of camping at Bass Lake and hiking in Yosemite.- With the warm weather, the water falls were RAGING and extremely cold!
