The Tahoe Biltmore (Highway 28, Crystal Bay) will offer drink specials all day long for Cinco de Mayo. Call (775) 831-0660. We say: If you can’t have fun at the Tahoe Biltmore, something is wrong with you. Plus I heard they will offer $2 Coronitas, $2.25 Corona Cheladas, $4.50 Anejo Tequila shots and $ 2 blended Margaritas. Cinco de Mayo falls on the Bar of America’s (10042 Donner Pass Road, Truckee) normal Tuesday evening “Happy Hour All Night” promotion, meaning select drinks (including a special house margarita) will be a couple of dollars off the regular prices, and all appetizers, pizzas and salads on the bar menu are half-off from 3 p.m. until close. We say: Bar of America is a lot of fun any night of the week, but (like the name suggests) it might not be the best place to celebrate Mexican heritage.- I say if you are doing the Truckee crawl, it’s worth it to stop in for a drink or two but no need to make it your Cinco de Mayo destination. On Tuesday, May 5, doors open at Jake’s On The Lake (780 N. Carnitas Plate complete with rice, beans, pico de gallo and guacamole available in the bar for $9.95, complimentary taquitos and sopes, and $3.00 Dos Equis XX Draft Beer and $4.00 Margaritas. We’ve also heard $1.50 steak and chicken tacos in the bar, free nachos with every pitcher of margaritas, shot specials, and special fajita prices all day long. We say: Casa Baeza is my personal favorite for a great margarita and a few tequila shots.- All bottles, imports and domestics, are just $2 â?” all day on May 5. Get there at 11:30 a.m. for lunch.- You will surely be on your way after leaving this place. Pete â?~N Peter’s (395 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City) will have tequila and corona specials all night. We say: The Blue Agave is, well, the only Mexican place in Tahoe City. The Pastime Club (10096 Donner Pass Road, Truckee) will be serving up their Cinco de Mayo specialty, the Donner Lake Margarita, all night long for only $2. Add to that $4 well margaritas, DJ Nomad spinning all night, and potentially a mariachi band stopping by, and you’ll definitely want to stop by this Truckee bar. Lakeside (850 North Lake Blvd., Tahoe City) has a great outdoor deck to get Cinco de Mayo revelers in the right mood. Special prices on buckets of Corona on that deck won’t hurt either. Not on the list… Taco’s Jaliscos has great mexican food at cheap prices, any day of the week.- They do serve beer but do not have the full bar so it is a great place to stop in and get a quick bite before going elsewhere. The plan… If I were to choose one thing to do, I would start my day at Casa Baeza in Truckee.- With all the great places to go in Truckee that are within walking distance from each other, everything else will ust fall into place.
