Skilongs tells it best with his post on tetongravity.com/forums squaw’s management buffoonery was at an all-time high this morning…. KT didn’t open until 11:00 due to today’s new term: “patrol hold.” despite the fact that it was sunny and in the 50s after an overnight low of 43, they were trying to convince people that KT was so icy that it was too dangerous to open. not sure how anyone was even able to say that with a straight face…. interestingly enough i got off the 2nd tram and everything up top was perfect corn (and there was no inversion last night). not a trace of ice up top where the winds were stronger and the temps were lower. chute 75 was soft (beautiful) slush before noon. that could not happen if there was real ice up there this morning. i have never ever heard of ice hold on KT…. people i rode the chair with that have been here for 35+ years said they’ve never heard of such a thing. i could almost begin to consider such a concept being valid if there was actually a remote chance that there was ice up there!!! i love how on the same day the mountain opened 2 hours late due to ice…. then closed 1 hour early due to slush. that makes a lot of sense. FOR THE RECORD: since i’ve been skiing squaw there has always been tons of criticism about the way the mountain is run by just about everyone who skis there. in years past i always thought people were fools for complaining and i’ve always defended the place. i believe it has the best terrain and the best lifts i’ve ever seen. squaw valley is my favorite place on earth. this year they’ve been running it like a bunch of FUCKTARDS. i hope things are different next year….. tetongravity.com/forums Make sure to Check out SkiLogs.com where you can keep an Keep an online Ski Journal. PS: 3:00 KT closings WTF?
