Tram Face Venue is OFF

By

Silverado – China Wall.

Just got word from Ski Patrol that they are pulling the plug on the Tram Face venue for the upcoming Freeride comp. The Comp will be held Friday in Silverado. (China Wall)

From the sounds of it there is just not enough snow to hold the venue on Tram Face. (don’t know what I think about that) BUT I am kinda surprised that they are opting for China Wall and Not Light Towers to C2 but that’s the word.

More Info to come later today……
The Freeride World Tour event at Squaw Valley has been moved up a day, to Friday.

The event was initially scheduled for Saturday. Organizers made the switch due to a storm that’s supposed to move through the region this weekend.

The competition is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. and the finish can be seen from the mountain’s base.

Some 40 skiers and snowboarders will, for the first time, descend down the tram face at Squaw Valley. The tram face has been closed since Squaw Valley opened in 1949.

They’ll travel 1,300 vertical feet and at a pitch of up to 70 degrees.

The competition is one of four stops on the Freeride World Tour. Athletes are coming to Lake Tahoe from Sochi, Russia, and will continue on to Tignes, France before crowning series champions in Verbier, Switzerland.

The top-ranked men’s and women’s skiers, entering the tram face event, are Sweden’s Henrik Windstedt and American Elyse Saugstad. Snowboarders Xavier De Le Rue of France and Ruth Leisiback of Switzerland are the top men’s and women’s entrants. RGT.com
