It seems that everyone in the valley is only thinking and talking about one thing. SNOW. A new weather system will be moving into the area later tonight and should bring with it some much-needed snow. The latest predictions are calling for 3-6 inches of new snow tomorrow and storm totals as much as a foot.

“AFTER A WEEK OF DRY WEATHER WE WILL SEE ACTIVE WEATHER RETURN TO THE AREA THROUGH THE WEEKEND. SEVERAL SYSTEMS ARE EXPECTED…BRINGING PERIODS OF RAIN AND SNOW. THE FIRST IN A SERIES…CURRENTLY OFF THE CALIFORNIA COAST…WILL MOVE TOWARD THE SIERRA AND WESTERN NEVADA TOMORROW.
RAIN AND HIGH ELEVATION SNOW CAN BE EXPECTED THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY WITH THIS FIRST SYSTEM…WITH SNOW LEVELS COMING DOWN TO AROUND 5500 FEET BY LATE THURSDAY AFTERNOON. THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION WILL BE IN IN MONO COUNTY…WHERE SNOW ACCUMULATIONS COULD REACH 6 TO 10 INCHES ABOVE 8000 FEET THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING. LESSER AMOUNTS ARE EXPECTED FOR THE NORTHERN SIERRA AND LAKE TAHOE BASIN.
A SECOND LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL MOVE THROUGH THE REGION FRIDAY NIGHT AND INTO SATURDAY MORNING…BRINGING SNOW LEVELS DOWN TO 4000 TO 4500 FEET. WE WILL SEE SOME ADDITIONAL SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN THE EASTERN SIERRA…ESPECIALLY SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE THROUGH MONO COUNTY…WHERE ANOTHER 6 TO 12 INCHES ABOVE 8000 FEET IS POSSIBLE BY SATURDAY MORNING. A NARROW BAND OF SNOW MAY DEVELOP IN WESTERN NEVADA LATE FRIDAY NIGHT INTO SATURDAY MORNING…WITH LOCALLY UP TO A COUPLE INCHES OF SNOW DOWN TO THE BASIN VALLEY FLOORS.”
