2011-2012 Utah Ski Season Movie Trailer

Every summer, after all the snow has melted from even the highest peaks in Utah I’m forced to throw in the towel on ski season. This is always a very difficult time of year for me. I go through some serious withdrawals during the long hot summer months but I’ve found a way to at least trick my mind into thinking winter is still alive and well.

Every night when I get home from work, instead of turning on the TV or rolling down the sheets and ducking off to sleep, I turn my iMac on and get to work, breaking down and editing the hundreds of hours of last years ski footage. The first movie I made, three years ago was called, “Powder Pigs”, and about 20 friends came over my place to watch. Last year I called it “Endless Winter” and we had a pretty good showing maybe 40 or so friends, some ski bloggers and marketing folks from the resorts showed up. Who knows by next year I may have to rent out the Energy Solutions Arena, well maybe I’ve taken this a little too far. Anyway, this years film is called, “The Winter that wasn’t. Or was it?” Now while we all know the real answer to that question, it is really remarkable to see just how much good skiing we actually had last year. Looking back on all the footage, I’m shocked by it. That being said, enjoy the trailer, “The Winter that wasn’t. Or was it?”

How about some statistics on how bad it was.

Christmas was a bust in Tahoe, maybe UT etc.

Alta recorded 373″ of snow, that’s their lowest ever recorded snow total. It was pretty bad to say the least.

I read the comments and then watched it expecting to see something embarrassingly bad.

It wasn’t. actually kinda liked it.

Some pretty deep snow in some of those shots. Not bad for one of the worst snow years on record.

^^Kind of a lame comparison… Pretty sure that the early Meathead Film flicks were more pro than this, and this was circa 2004…
