So there is a definite divide amongst whistler’ites’ to as which is the better mountain. Whistler OR Blackcomb?
Since I have been a ski bum in both areas and worked all over Whis from Alpine to Creekside, I will weigh the PROS and CONS of each mountain correctly and as accurate as my Frenchy-ness will allow. From the best places to get hooked up like a local, go tower hunting, and pretend like you are a handicap, when you really just want first chair on opening day on Blackcomb!
WHISTLER
Super sweet groomers, Red Chair (early season), Peak to Creek, you can ski with your mom there, Round house has a bar dedicated to our Aussi and Sepo Friends. Jordan’s is always entertaining, tons of traversing just like I like it, keep them snow-boarders away. $$ spots to act rich and park underground and pop right onto the slopes!
BLACKCOMB
Is pretty much cooler in every way. Terrain is better, you can live in Alpine and closer to Pemberton, Lots of Cliffs and Rocks, You will bump into every Pro Skier in town skiing BLACK bcs it is the place to be, CBC trees, DOA, Best Slackcountry in the Universe. Glacier Lodge has the best “tower hunting” system. Long shitty flat groomers after skiing the best line of your life off spanky’s or ruby, Most cougars ski on Whistler so you can party at the Longhorn and never see them on the mountain, HA! The Glacier Windlip, Pillows, and the longest tree runs of your life, pretty much make Blackcomb the winner.

Blackcomb is tha shit!
I like Whistler, don’t have to worry as much about running into rocks in deep snow.
Love the drops of Spanky’s….but Simphony ..oh man.
What’s so great about symphony? I don’t see the attraction. It’s way too flat.
im assuming he is thinking of harmony. symphony is pretty worthless
This is stupid
Where does all the hate come from?
“Surely better than Squaw, right?”
“Keep them snowboarders away!”
I don’t think Shane and Co started this whole I am so much better than you to let it end up like this.
In general I think GNAR only works if you take “I am so much better than you” not seriously. But that’s what seems to be happening.
I am a Whistlerite and I love living here, but I would never start taking the piss out of all the other resorts, just because I’m living here. No, I even feel sad for all the locals down south, for having bad conditions since december. And still complaining about the snowboarders? I know that those family dads that are entering the terrain park with their kids are always complaining about them, but do we really need to?
Freeskiing wouldn’t be where it is atm if snowboarding hadn’t been there, most of my friends are snwoboarders and I am more and more likely to switch because you don’t find this attitude very often among the snowboarders.
So get out there and have fun instead of finding new ways to hate and bitch about each other…that’s what Shane would have wanted and especially today we should think about going back there…
jackson is better then blackcomb
Very stupid. Written by a transplant who has spent little to no time on either mountain. I’m surprised the author had enough time to get off his knees and check out how manY other pros were around.
Jackson for the win!
what about the free hot chocolate at symphony?
Wow, Jack! You write like a three year old. Must be because you’re french. Or are you? I agree with Anonymous. You sound like some rick kid transplant who probably has never even held a job here, let alone actually skied either bloody mountain. Do yourself a favour and learn some proper grammar and spelling, Jack. Or better yet, spare us your depth of knowledge and wisdom altogether.
And I thought Joe Skier posted garbage. At least he knows proper sentence structure and can actually write.
You may not be a hater but You sound like my god damn high school English teacher
Khybers -orange trees is way longer than any tree run you’re going to find on blackcomb (or anywhere else for that matter). Blackcomb is bigger around the middle and whistler has more terrain in the alpine. On days the alpine doesnt open, blackcomb can be better. Can’t beat the size of Whist alpine though. The other problem with blackcomb is that it is very easy for everyone to get everywhere, so it can get tracked out faster. Whistler is much more nodal, made up of very different areas separated by ridge lines, and they’re not as easy to get into or out of. It’s all about knowing where to go, and when. Conditions, weather, and the day of the week all play a big part. Try writing again when you have something valid to say from an informed perspective. It might be a while.
More worthless garbage. Why do you site admins approve this junk for posting?
This should be left for people to figure out on their own.
Worst article ever. Complete crap. Never let this dude write again on this website.
Hello! I could have sworn I’ve been to this website before but after reading through some of the post I realized it’s new to me. Anyhow, I’m definitely delighted I found it and I’ll be bookmarking and checking back often!
