Völkl , Katana

Type: Powder Ski

Lengths: 177, 184, 191, 198

Dimensions: 143 – 112 -132

Retail Price: $1,065

The Volkl Katana is a full-rocker powder ski that charges hard but is still relatively easy to get from rail to rail. One thing we really like about the Katana is the badass dragon they put on the top sheet.

Pros: Very stable ski that can still carve down the mountain when you hit the groomers.

Cons: If your looking for a straight powder board you might want to check out the Volkl Shiro which is a bit more beefy at 151-119-135.

Some details you missed: Barely any rocker, tip and tail just hover on the snow surface when running flat. the instant you slightly put them on edge, the who edge is in contact. Super stable at speed and runs over crud/gnarl/rocks/small bumps/small children like they aren’t even there. When on edge, they bite hard and can arch some pretty serious GS turns. Think Mantra, but bigger. Might not be as big/wide as the Shiro, but construction wise its definitely just as beafy. Plus, this could be an everyday ski.

Cons would be that since its got two layers of metal, the ski is heavy-er. Is what it is. Can catch yourself in the backseat if your not careful or strong enough to keep em under foot. They will never death wobble at speed, but washboards can get annoying as these skis arent very damp.
