Booby Trap

Dangerous booby traps were found on a Utah trail yesterday in a Provo Canyon.  There were multiple traps, one with a trip wire and 20 lb. spiked boulder swinging down and another trip wire with a bed of sharp wodden stakes beneath it.  An ex-military officer who now works for the U.S. Forest Service spotted it- luckily he had been trained in hazardous device detection.  Benjamin Steven Rutkowski, 19, of Orem and Kai Matthew Christensen, 21, of Provo were arrested in a Utah County Jail on Saturday due to a tip from some bragging on facebook.  What were these kids thinking?  Is Utah really this weird?

Hey, innocent until proven guilty guys. Maybe these were traps for animals. Let’s not judge too fast.

pics one and two look terrifying… just like something Rambo built, haha… but then pic 3 looks kinda funny… like something built by dorky kids. I think this is a case of boys will be boys, did anyone get hurt? if not let them go and they can consider themselves lucky to have learned a lesson that could have been way harsher. Have you all never done something reckless and stupid when you were 19 or 20?

Being in that age bracket, I do LOADS of stupid stuff. However, I’m not a moron. The fact that these ADULTS thought it would be funny to set traps like that is seriously messed up. They should both be mentally evaluated before returning to society because either A, they have some sort of mental behavior disability or B, they have a disgusting sense of humor and should be put in some sort of program to teach them better.

hmm, all good points, thanks. They definitely should be mentally evaluated before returning to society… wonder how many other deranged young adults are out there ready to kill someone for no good reason… oh yeah, lots and lots of them… this world is one crazy F’d up place fo sho! Whats a lover to do?

Really? Here’s the thing: just because you’re bored and young doesn’t mean you can build something like that and leave it. The real issue here is that they think no one else uses that area OR they built them out of malice, hoping someone would use the area and get hurt. Trapping animals? RIIIIGHT. The thing is, every time I did something stupid, I didn’t brag about hurting someone or building something awful ON MY FACEBOOK PAGE.

Stupid. Just stupid — but few people outgrow stupid.

I will confirm that the people in Utah are very very strange. The lack of drugs and alcohol use leads the youth to doing much more destructive things….like this.

Look at how the tips of the “spears” are darkened. They need to test to make sure these little psycho-brats didn’t put some sort of poisonous crap on them, or dip them into something full of bacteria- altho it might just be from trying to “harden” them in a fire. Either way, it shows deliberate intent to maximize harm.
