This ever happen to you?

The last thing you do before turning out the lights is peek out the window.  It’s nukin’, sleep is impossible.  Visions of the deep dance through your mind.  All of a sudden, important questions must be addressed like:  Which run should I take first?  Where will it be the deepest?  Which direction is the wind coming from?

Finally, the alarm goes off.  The morning scramble begins.  Throw on the gear, (where the F*** did I put my goggles?) grab some food, coffee in mug, clean off the car, white knuckle drive up barely visible access road.  Pulling into the lot, your stoke takes a hit when you realize every other pass holder has beat you to it.  Don’t you people sleep?  The stoke sinks further when you get to the lift and see this:

Maybe its time to rethink the definition of lift serve?  Make a move that guarantees first tracks for life and buy your very own snowcat skiing and snowboarding operation.  All you need is $375K and San Juan Ski Company, the largest snowcat operation in Colorado, can be yours!

Permitted to access 36,000 acres in the San Juan Mountains outside of Durango you can explore “almost 60 square miles of steep treed slopes and glades spread across 10 major drainages where it either dumps, or it’s bright, crisp and bluebird,” – sanjuanski.com for years to come.

Think about it, for less than the price of a condo in most ski towns, the only lines to worry about are north facing glades or south facing corn harvests.  Hmmmm, anyone want to go in as partners?

Is this the type of thing that you could purchase with a group? At $5k each you’d only need 75 people. There’s got to be 75 riders out there with $5k in the bank that would through down to get free Cat skiing for as long as the operation lasts! AAAANNNNND maybe (just maybe) make some money off the investment.

The snow by Durango is killer, ever heard of Silverton? Totally interested in seeing if this would be something that could actually get organized. Let me know if you want in.

The price includes USFS permit for around 36,000 acres. This is the largest permit in the U.S. For skiers/riders in the know, the permit alone is worth this amount. The price also includes all equipment, including 4 snowcats, 10 snowmobiles, 1 15-person van equipped with mat tracks, 26 BCA beacons, 26 shovel packs, avalauncher, two portable huts, a working agreement with Durango Mountain Resort for office space and mid-mountain storage for equipment, plus much more. It is turnkey. All equipment is in good working order.
What isn’t listed as assets is the infrastructure – the over 150 miles of snowcat roads and nearly 200 ski runs/areas. It took years and years (14 to be exact) to layout the roads and the drop and pickup zones. Once the snow melts, these roads and zones disappear. SJSC employees know these roads and the zones; and want to continue working with the snowcat outfit. This knowledge is invaluable.
