Snowboarding Blackcomb with Craig Beaulieu January 09 2011

January 9th, 2011 by

January 09 2011 was another cold one up on Blackcomb and a lot of the pow had been seriously shredded by the weekenders, but we fought against the elements, and shredded the gnar. We took a hike up to the top of Blackcomb and went over to body bag.  couple drops, and some lines and called it a day. Another sick one with Craig Beaulieu. The snow was pretty wind blown up there, but we found some good stuff in the North facing pockets. Check out the double stage at the start of the video. Craig gets’er done.

Craig Beaulieu Snowboarding the backside of Whistler on January 8th

January 8th, 2011 by

Craig Beaulieu Snowboarding the backside of Whistler on January 8th. Sick laps of Kyvers in the sun with some fresh pow. Today Peak opened and the mountain was packed. The lineups were pretty long, but at least the snow was good. We went up and rode some Kyvers with Craig Beaulieu, but it was tracked pretty early. The snow was great today. You could send it pretty hard and be ok.

Full moon Split-Boarding the Cayoosh

December 31st, 2010 by

Just North of Pemberton lies some of the best backcountry skiing in the world. One of these amazing places is the Cayoosh. With amazing views of opposite peaks, the Matier glacier,  and the Moraines. The Cayoosh boasts some of the most picturesque views in the area.   The powder there is generally drier than Whistler snow, due to a partial rain-shadow, and  higher elevation off the Duffy. We went up there last week to do some split boarding, and to my surprise, I found out that it is only accessible by skins. There is an impenetrable wall of trees that can only be crossed with skins, so sledding is out of the question.  The entrance is  a short distance past the Joffre parking lot. You park on the opposite side of the road, and then head west across the road on a very well marked trail.
