November 5th, 2012 by

Though last winter was a total flop?  Jake Cohn didn’t.  Watch as he finds the goods and makes the most out of a season that was less than ideal for everywhere but Alaska (and apparently Japan based on how deep some of this footage is).  Shot on location in Japan and the Whistler backcountry.

3 Videos To Get You Fired Up For Go Skateboarding Day 2012 (June 21)

June 20th, 2012 by

Step 1: Take 5 to watch these skate videos

Step 2: Lace your shoes

Step 3: Go skateboarding

Go Skateboarding Day is tomorrow and with it comes the first day of summer. I know we haven’t had much good weather in Whistler for the last couple weeks and maybe you haven’t even gone skateboarding yet this year, but tomorrow is supposed to stay dry! So take advantage and go join in on the celebrations. If you need some extra motivation, here’s 3 videos I watched this week that got me amped to go push around.

The first video is a (so far) unheard of Latvian shredder who won’t be unheard of for long. The internet is describing him as “The best skateboarder you’ve never heard of”.

The second is a classic Daewon Song part, lots of quality, technical skateboarding for your viewing pleasure.

Last but not least are the highlights from the last stop of Street League. The guard is changing and the “new” kids, Chaz, Nyjah and Malto are absolutely destroying it these days.

To find out more about Go Skateboarding Day in Whistler, the full schedule of events can be found here.

“The Five Stages of Bummer Summer” | A Creative Photo Slideshow from Dan Barham

June 18th, 2012 by

From the looks of our current weather pattern I’d say we’re heading into another ‘Bummer Summer’. I mean when was the last full week of sun? Methinks May 8-14.  Last year was a bit of a let down: rain > rain > rain > winter.

Here’s Dan Barham’s third place edit from last years Kokanee Crankworx Deep Summer Photo Challenge.  Involving six photographers they had 72 hours to complete a slideshow. Dan decided to show the five stages of “Bummer Summer” and how his crew dealt with the loss of sunshine and dust.
