Mt. Baker POV | Gangsta Opening Week

December 9th, 2011 by

This is a POV clip from Dec.1.  The pow was good, and the early season gnar is for the taking!  Enjoy the clip, but you should never move to my HOOD, cause danger is…..“  Mt. Baker opened this year with a bang!  The snow was light and deep, stable conditions in the b.c. and a good base holding down some of the best conditions in late November to early December.

The wheels have come off the snow train…for a little while now the PNW has been set in a high pressure drought leaving the snow crunchy, and windblown leaving fond memories of the start to another La Nina season.  I have faith that things will return to normal at Mt. Baker soon, it can’t “not” rain forever.  I mean forever is a long time, not gonna happen.  History, cold air, and the world record say otherwise.  So until we get another wet dump, or just some precip. I have been dreaming and watching videos where a white December is just around the corner!

Best Mammoth Early Season Park Ever | Park Video Update

December 8th, 2011 by

No, mother nature has not been near as kind to us as she has to the PNW… but, let’s be grateful for the cold temps. MMSA mountain ops have had all hands on deck, cranking the snow-guns to the tilt. This has translated to rapid expansion of ridable terrain and a park that may as well be the best Mammoth has ever had this early in the season – that even includes recent seasons where we’ve already boasted a 6′ base by mid-November.

There are jib and jump features for all abilities and yes, it’s true, pipe-jockeys rejoice, the 22-foot Super Pipe is ready to go.

For a sampling of the Unbound offerings look no further than this video featuring Nick Miles, Matt Guntert and Scott Donahue.

Mammoth Mountain Joins Unofficial Networks | Mammoth Showtime Reel

December 6th, 2011 by

What better way to kick off UnofficialMammoth.com than with a highlight reel of some of the best action captured from the 2010/2011 season? Consider this my offering as a “snow-dance” because, well, it’s December and we’re ready to get the party started for 2011/2012. My friends, it’s time to start working that mojo, pay homage to the snow-gods, rally up a ski/board burning ceremony… whatever it takes to turn our blessed Eastern Sierra white again. In the meantime enjoy this tribute to the 2010/2012 season – hopefully it gets that stoke burning.

Special thanks to all that made this video possible: thank you all for your time, effort and exceptional skills. And thank you all for dropping by UnofficialMammoth.com – so looking forward to bringing you all the latest and greatest from the famed Eastern Sierra.

NOTE: How’s your sound? This song is definitely worthy of something better than your built-in laptop speakers. If you have some quality speakers, plug ‘em in, and enjoy!
