Soft Snow and Bad Light

April 23rd, 2011 by

Not every day is as great as yesterday was. Today for example was still a good day to be in the canyon, but it was not quite up to yesterdays standards. The main issue today was visibility. We skied four Silver Fox runs and one thru Gad Chutes. The Fox was mostly soft and mostly smooth, but you couldn’t see much. The runout under Gad Chutes was truly bad skiing. It was snowing when I bailed at 1:00pm and maybe tomorrow will be a better day…

Best Day Ever @ Snowbird

April 22nd, 2011 by

Sometimes the deepest days are not the best days. I would argue that smooth fast snow, sunny weather, the right temps that don’t freeze your ass, but also don’t cook the snow, and a good peeps to ski with make the best days. Today had all four of those things. The groppel explosion of yesterday was followed up by a few inches last night and the somehow it was sunny and 25ish degrees all day in late April. It was a recipe for sickness!

Riders on the Storm @ Snowbird

April 21st, 2011 by

When the storm hit today at about 2:00pm it hit wicked hard. There was lightning, crazy wind and it groppled about 4-5 inches in about half an hour.  The tram did not re-open for the rest of the day which was a bummer, but the chairs were sweet and Get Serious was all smoothed out from the insta-pow explosion. I was a late arrival today, but I did get one banger run on Baldy with the guys before the storm came in. It was sick! Baldy is the best inbounds terrain anywhere period. The features and consistently killer snow are unbeatable. Your mountain has nothing on us…

Mellow Spring Powder at Snowbird

April 20th, 2011 by

It seemed warm at the bottom of the hill today but up top was a different story. The tram was closed for most of the afternoon due to high winds so we took to the chairs. The snow in Little Cloud Bowl was epic wind buff so Carston decided it would be better to ski it switch. There was cream pow in the cirque and even the lower mountain was skiing pretty damn good. Another sleeper pow day in Powder Month AKA: April. Continued snow in the forecast has me predicting continued awesome skiing.

Some Deep Pow From DubSatch

April 20th, 2011 by

It seems like the Satchlets come up with a great edit every copule of weeks. I was told to keep an eye out for their season ender from High Boy at Alta. It should be pretty awesome. For now just sit back, relax and enjoy Leo Aherns, Sam Cohen, Johnny Collinson and the fellas destroy some pow.

Best of March from Brady Newton

April 18th, 2011 by

Brady’s videos are always quality. This one is extra dope for your Monday morning. If you missed March at Snowbird you missed a lot of good times. A quick warning, if you have seizure issues I would not watch this one. It has some quick blinking action that might cause you some problems. Enjoy!

The Goods from Powdershots – Unofficial Photos of the Week

April 17th, 2011 by

Snowbird got pounded with snow again last week as anyone who was there knows. We are charging hard past the 600″ mark and I think 700″ should be reached easily … Read More

TJ David Getting After it at Alta

April 16th, 2011 by

TJ David made this rad edit a week to highlight all the raddness of April this year. I dig his hard charging style and the massive front flips off cliffs. Also, the straightline at 1:11 is impressive. Enjoy!

Bobsled Bike Trail – Unofficial Local Review

April 15th, 2011 by

Road biking is stupid as the above picture proves, so mountain biking is the obvious summer choice for wheeled adventure. It has been snowing so much in April this year … Read More

More Face Shots than Jenna Jameson: Today @ Snowbird

April 14th, 2011 by

Another April storm crushed Snowbird last night as Powder Months continues. If you have been thinking about coming to Snowbird this April, but didn’t you screwed up huge. There was more snow flying up into your face today than at a 70′s disco party. It was nuts. After catching first tram on Reg only things really started blowing up off the backside of the Cirque. The tram line was friendly until about 10:00, then it got kinda mean. I am feeling what the guys at Squaw are talking about now. It really sucks to stand in a half hour tram line while Peruvian sits idle, just so Snowbird can save about $60 an hour in labor. The season is still on guys WTF?
