The Best of The Shred Show – TWSSF 5 Star TTR Event

The Telus Ski and Snowboard Festival has long come to a close, but Monster released this “best of” montage of the weeks snowboarding shenanigans.

I can’t believe so much awesome happened in just 10 days. Big airs, out of control boarder style, mogul mayhem and awesome nightlife. This years Shred Show featured some of the best snowboarding ever at the TWSSF.

I think my body still needs another week or so to fully recover but I already can’t wait until next year!

Remember when snowboarding was all about style? Massive Backside 180

April 25th, 2012 by

Remember when snowboarding was all about style? Big airs, slow rotations, stylish grabs and an emphasis on who could poke it the hardest, not who could triple a 1440? Rube Goldberg does. He showed up at the TWSSF big hip contest to remind you, and all the other huckers today that they should too with this MASSIVE backside 180 tailgrab. I hope people take notice, with all the hype on the Olympics, slopestyle and TTR events snowboarding is one rotation away from becoming aerials. Lets hear it for Rube Goldberg, the reigning mayor of Whistler for bringing snowboarding back to its roots.

Adam Moran’s TWSSF 2012 Pro Photo Showdown Slideshow

April 25th, 2012 by

This is Adam Moran‘s slideshow from the 2012 Pro Photo Showdown at the TWSSF. Although it wasn’t the winner, this slideshow has some of the best snowboard images from the night, awesome riders and great song choices! 6 years of hard work went in to this, you’ll probably even recognize some of the photos from cover shots on major publications. Great job Adam! Stay tuned as the other slideshows from the night keep popping up on the interweb.

Brian Nevins Winning 2012 Pro Photo Showdown Slideshow

April 24th, 2012 by

Brian Nevins won this years pro photo showdown at the Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival with an absolutely mind blowing slideshow. Lots of brain freezing cold water surfing action starts the show off. You’ll feel like a p**sy next time you’re in Tofino for sure. He warms you up with some shots from the tropics and really gets you fired up to go surfing, which is fitting as the shred season comes to a close. This year, as usual all the slideshows were amazing, make sure you buy tickets early and don’t miss out next year!

TELUS Festival, The Final Day | Ski Superpipe

April 24th, 2012 by

Sunday April 22rd was the last day of the 2012 Telus World Ski and Snowboard Festival and the last event was none other then the Super Pipe. Although my liver is happy the Festival is over it sure was one hell of a ride.  The weather for this contest as well as most of the others wasn’t all that great but at least it didn’t rain!  The event went off with skiers throwing down some huge doubles and getting some crazy amplitude.  After the half pipe event was over they had a big hit contest where one skier overshadowed everyone with a double cork in a thong, not quite BN Gnar points but its gotta count for something. As he rode away there was a noticeable bit of road rash on his back from the tumble, its definitely worth the watch!

FAST and DANGER – Nuulife Cinema’s Intersection edit

April 23rd, 2012 by

FAST and DANGER pretty much sums up what this edit is all about. The boys at Nuulife Cinema really held it down this year with some solid skiing, snowboarding and balls out snowmobile jumping. Helicopters, big lines, beer drinking, cool self built features, naked jumping and random shenanigans made this edit one of the contenders this year. I’m looking forward to watching Nuulifes full length movie, they’ve always got something good!

TELUS Festival Day 8 | BIG AIR

April 23rd, 2012 by

Saturday April 21 of Whistler’s Telus Festival brought us the Big Air contest!  The Big Air is pretty much the biggest event of the Telus Fest.  For those who don’t know, the basically build a huge jump at the bottom of the mountain so that thousands of people can gather in the village to watch.  Of course this year in classic Whistler forum the weather didn’t really help to much.  There were still all the biggest names in Freestyle Skiing there to throw down but wasn’t really the spectator friendly sport if has been in the past.  During the finals it started to really pour rain which made speed a huge issue.  Most of the girls ended up knuckling the jump pretty bad making throwing any serious trick a risky move.  In the end the number one girl ended up winning with a 360, while the number one guy won with a double cork 1620, this begs the question, should there be a “ladies tee” in these competitions?

-And Gus Kenworthy took the win with a dub 1620

TELUS Festival Day 4 | Duel Moguls | Snowboarders + Snowbladers

April 18th, 2012 by

Tuesday April 18th brought the last snowboard contest of the 2012 Telus Festival in Whistler BC.  The last event was the Monster Energy’s Mogul Duel where snowboarders race the clock through Mogul’s with a small kicker in the middle for a chance to go head to head for the small cash prize.  The event was alot of fun, the weather kinda sucked it was cold so the moguls we hard and icy.  The best part of the event had to have been the snowblader in the one piece trying the back flip, oh and the free burgers and beers!
