Winter Is Back In T-Ride – Feb. 20, 2011

February 20th, 2011 by

Winter returned to Telluride last night with thunder-snow and one of the most solid storms of the season! The resort reported 10″ fresh this morning, but skied much deeper in zones. It was dumping at times last night and continued off and on today with sporadic bursts of sunshine. Pretty nice day out there for sure

I Just Can’t Get Enough…Powder

February 18th, 2011 by

This week Whistler Blackcomb has gotten a pounding. How much you “out-of-town’ers” ask… WELL 73 inches of snow fell in the last 7 days. With all this snow I still cant get enough. Many would call this an addiction and to reply:  YEP I am addicted to skiing powder. Especially Kybers on a Powder day.  I am a full on “powder” addict, powder hound, powder crazy. There is nothing better in the whole world than riding out on the moto-track from Kybers as you and your friends scream with joy! Hands down the best moments of my life. Oh yeah, enjoy the video!

Telluride: Pow Day in the Trees – Feb. 6, 2011

February 6th, 2011 by

After it was dumping snow all day yesterday and on and off overnight, Telluride had it’s first storm of over a foot in some time. Finally! With high winds following the storm, most of the snow had blown into the woods. The trees were definitely the place to be today with deep pow lines and

Telluride: Reggae Route – Feb. 3, 2011

February 3rd, 2011 by

Skiing today was interesting. After single digit temps during the day yesterday, today saw plenty of sunshine and warmed up into the high teens! Unfortunately, everything was pretty wind affected from last night making it an effort to find some decent snow conditions. My friends Brian, Dave, and I decided to check out Reggae Route and

Reggae Route – Jan.19,2011

January 19th, 2011 by

After a storm day at the resort I went out to Reggae with a Telluride local born and raised.  Accumulation had begun to amount to something and there was not a track to be found in the fresh snow out back.  We unwound with a nice ride up 9 and dropped in.  The upper trees were

Triple Secret Powder Location – Skiing Into The Lake

January 5th, 2011 by

We spent some time exploring the West Shore of Lake Tahoe today and found a peak that I don’t think has EVER been skied.  I’d love to tell you all where it is…but it’s already been classified as the Triple Secret Powder Location.  We’re very confident that no one has ever skied this peak/zone before.  So, yeah, we’re feelin’ pretty BadAss right now – as you can imagine.

Ridiculously Perfect Powder Run on West Shore Lake Tahoe

January 2nd, 2011 by

When your body can’t take the huckfest known as Squaw Valley any longer – you go to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe and cool out for a day.  Easy climbs, perfect powder, and consistent pitch right back to your car make the West Shore a haven for pathetic, aging freeriders.  On any given day, you’ll see a number of these washed up pros claiming to still be “ripping it”.  But really they are tired, broken old men hanging onto false memories of proposed radness.  Hence, the West Shore lost pros club.  I’m currently vying for club entry.  This video proves it.

December 28th, Another good Day.

December 28th, 2010 by

December 28th, was another great day at Whistler Blackcomb.  All alpine lifts (except the showcase t-bar) opened today for the first time in a while.  I’m sure the lift lines at peak chair we’re just atrocious but the glacier express wait was minimal and the pow was deep.  The alpine was fun but the thick cloud layer made it hard to see, causing Dominic Melanson and myself to spend part of the day in the deep trees again.  Since the 200 plus centimeters of snow, blackcomb glacier has not yet opened.  The forecast is for sunny skies tomorrow, this could make for a backcountry skiers dreams or nightmares with the high avalanche advisory.  Numerous class 2 and three avalanches have been triggered in the last few day, including the poop chutes slide, that i caught on tape for the beginning of the video.

Thank you Shane Carmichael

Deep snow on December 23. The eve of Christmas eve.

December 23rd, 2010 by

December 23rd at Whistler Blackcomb was a banger of a day.  With 13 cm’s of fresh pow haven fallen over night and the winds gusting up to a hundred clicks in the alpine,  WB didn’t bother to open the alpine.  These circumstances forced us freeriders to ski the lower elevation tree runs, and let me say “It was deep”.  With the freezing level staying at valley bottom it made for excellent early season tree laps right to the valley.  The video consists of Dominic Melanson, Kye Peterson and myself enjoying  these fluffy delights.  We’re all anxious to see what happens tomorrow, if the alpine opens it will be epic no doubt! because of the 20 cm’s of pow in the forecast.  Merry christmas.

Drop it like it’s hot! Pow at Solitude 12-20-2010

December 20th, 2010 by

After getting the early morning text about LCC being closed until at least noon it was time for evasive action. I kicked my cell phone into overdrive and got us Unofficially set up to ride Solitude today. So instead of sitting at home and crying like some depressed loser we headed up to Solitude and had a sick day! (Sorry the GoPro was aimed a little low today…)
