Raging the Tight Trees of VT

May 17th, 2011 by

Josh Matta put together this highlight reel of the tight trees in VT. I know there are a ton of good skiers out West that cut their teeth skiing lines just like these. I know I did back in the day at Killington and Sugarbush. I feel like we are all spoiled out in Utah with all this powder and widely spaced trees. Oh well…Keep shredding it in VT Mr. Matta.

3rd Annual East Coast Super Shoot @ Stowe

March 24th, 2011 by

This past week Stowe played host to the 3rd Annual East Coast Super Shoot, a competition for action sports photographers.  The competition is open to anyone, but you must submit a 2 minute slide show movie of your best shots.  The Top 5 entries are selected for entry into the East Coast Super Shoot.  Each photographer must get a team of 1 skier and 1 snowboarder as subjects and photograph them over a 3-day period.  After shooting the action, each photographer must put together another slide show combining their shots from their portfolio with the ones shot during the 3-day period.  Most of the images shot at Stowe are freestyle shots, but photographers are encouraged to shoot all over the mountain.  This is a really cool competition that allows the creative juices to flow.  There aren’t too many “local” competitions that are dedicated to photographers, so this one really stands out.  Check out this video from Bear Pond Productions of one of the shoots that went down in the Terrain Park.

Trevor Jacob Jumping Trains In Tahoe

We all know that Tahoe has been getting absolutely dumped on all Winter and it continues to hammer out there.  With all of this snow, you know people are doing some crazy sh!t.  Trevor Jacob and his crew setup this train jump near Donner Lake in Truckee, CA.  They built it in the same spot where Temple Cummins and Andy Hetzl jumped the train about 15 years ago.  Those guys pushed the limit back then and Trevor steps it up here by sending it huge and going for some spins.  I’m sure there will be more crazy footage coming out of Tahoe soon!

Jake Blauvelt- Naturally Episode 1

March 19th, 2011 by

Jake is a Waterbury local and grew up riding at Stowe and other Northern Vermont resorts.  Now he is big time and killing it as a pro.  Check out his first episode of “Naturally”, a webisode series that Jake is putting together.  More and more pros are starting to release footage via the web rather then putting all of their shots into their video part.  It gives the rider and their sponsors more exposure throughout the season.  Plus, we don’t have to wait until the Fall to see some banger footage!  Watch and enjoy!

Mark McMorris’ Triple Cork 1440

March 16th, 2011 by

With all of the “hucking” going on in the snowboard and ski industry, it’s nice to see someone do a crazy trick with style.  Mark McMorris put down a triple corked 1440 (4 full rotations) at Snowmass / Aspen on a perfect jump just about 2 weeks ago.  Snowboarding’s progression is getting out of control.  Rumor has it that someone named Torstein has a Quad Cork, but until we see that, McMorris’ trick takes the cake.  Hopefully everyone keeps style in mind like McMorris.

WARNING!  If you are squeamish, you might not like this video.  This just shows the lengths riders are going to for getting “the shot”.  I won’t say much else, but you’ll have to check out the new PeepShow movie to see what happens next!
