Untouched Headwall. It was like this for a while as there was no one at Squaw today. I’ve gotta admit, I was initially bummed about the Tour of California being … Read More
Yesterday was probably the deepest day of the year here in Telluride, even though the lifts shut down over three weeks ago. After a few days of pretty consistent snow fall, it absolutely dumped yesterday leaving the mountain blanketed in over 2 feet of fresh pow. Skinning up the mountain was amazing with white out conditions

Click on this photo to see what happens next. Torgrim Vole doesn’t hold back. Nor does gravity. This footage is for Field Productions and their latest ski flick Side by Side. After this crash, Torgrim is pretty lucky to still be walking. Guess those Norwegians are a tough breed. He is still out there charging hard.
This season just doesn’t want to quit. There is still a ton of great riding to be had. Everything from Phillips Canyon up on the pass has mid winter pow, and the snow isn’t going anywhere in the park. The only trouble is finding a clear day to get after the more sought after lines.
Last couple days we have been lucky to get some pleasant weather and get out to the goods. Up high everything is riding great, but as you get lower the south faces are getting effected. and everything low is tough to ride. Here is some footage for Phillips canyon while the sun is shining.
This is a sweet video from local ripper Casey Riva skiing Nellie back on April 4th, the day after the resort closed. The following description is from his vimeo page. “The last day of the Telluride season was a full on blizzard, the following day… Bluebird. My friends and I hike up the resort and dropped off the other side. What was waiting was over a foot of fluffy white powder with no people in sight. one of the best runs of the season.”
Here are some clips from Bridger Brigade Productions. Looks like these rippers had a sick season and took full advantage of it. The Bridger Bowl locals get to some sweet … Read More
Staying in town can be a little tough on the mind right now. It is hard to get motivated when every morning you look out the window at rain or greybird. With just a couple patches of snow still hanging around in town, it is hard to believe there are still some deep turns to be had. But there are. The snow keeps pounding up high. It just takes a little motivation and it will be like mid winter again. Just a recommendation to stay away from the stashes at lower elevations, that is far from mid winter.
Check out the pow turns and a sick speed fly/ski base in this video.
Wow, what a day! Andrew Strain, Eric Poulin and Jake Cohn decide to do some laps on Disease ridge (Blackcomb Sidecountry). There are some really sick lines on Disease Ridge and … Read More
Local ski cinema company Progressive Youth Productions has been doing some work this year and has filmed a “Dead Episode” released every Tuesday since first snow. My favorite episode is Dead Episode 15. In 15, PYP films Eliel Hindert, Anthony Boronowski and Ingrid Backstrom as they ski some pillows off Whistler Mountain. Check out Episode 15 above and the 19 others below:
