Snow King- Local Review

February 24th, 2011 by

Snow King is the s&%t! It’s steep, it’s uncrowded, and it’s big- 1,500′ (okay, maybe only by East Coast standards). The point is, it’s often overlooked for the more popular … Read More

Jackson Hole: Low Light and Face Shots!

February 23rd, 2011 by

Oh, man, it is DEEP! If you don’t believe me check out this footage from yesterday. Face shots, pillows and pow- things that summer day dreams are made of. With more snow on the way, it should only get better. To find the pow, point your skis downhill in any direction and it’ll be there.

Jackson Hole- Blower Cowboy Powder

February 22nd, 2011 by

Powder is the name of the game right now- and blower pow at that. It’s hard to believe that a week ago it was full-on spring break. Now, it’s as good, if not better, than it’s been all year. Winds were howling today so stick to faces favored by south and west winds. Also, it’s getting pretty unstable, so use good decision making skills out there!

Jackson = Awesome

February 21st, 2011 by

I’m getting tired of trying to figure out new ways to say “it’s good again.” So how about this: it’s AWESOME again. In fact, I’m resisting the urge to write the entire terrain report in ALL CAPS- it’s that good. Sure, some of the lower faces still have a bit of a crust, but up high it’s full-on trench town. Plus, more storms are lined up. So, get out there and get some of the best skiing so far this year.

Jackson Hole Feb. 19- Snow is trying

February 19th, 2011 by

The inbounds skiing on Jackson is still recovering.  The upper elevations north facing shots still have a chalky softer base for this new snow to sit upon.  But, most of the mountain still needs more snow to cover up this hard base left from the warm week.  If you are willing to do some walking or skinning, there is still some great snow.  If you want to wait for the snow to accumulate, there are plenty of activities planned all weekend for the Winterfest.  Today there were the Cutter Races and an air show.  Tomorrow you can check out Ice Rink Dodgeball or watch the finals for the JRs Freeski Comp.  Either way, the snow is adding up and it will be epic again soon.

Jackson Hole February 17th- REFRESH!

February 18th, 2011 by

Well, Spring Break is over, powder is back. Although it’s not fully “on” again, as they say, it’s pretty damn good. There’s still some crust out there, particularly on faces that saw a lot of warming over the last few days. I say, stay high on the north faces and it should be like winter never took a break!

Jackson- The Calm Before the Storm

February 17th, 2011 by

Yes, it snowed 6″ last night, which is awesome. Just in case there are any haters out there check out what we were dealing with before the storm….and even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. Jenson Canyon always offers up the goods for those willing to make the trek.

Elevated Grounds- Local Review

February 17th, 2011 by

I’m a bit of a coffee snob. I know what you’re thinking- Dexter, I pictured you as a gas-station, $0.99 special type of guy. Not the case. I enjoy a … Read More

Jackson Hole: Feb 14- Sun and Wind

February 14th, 2011 by

So the snow is not the best it has been all season, but this spring weather is very hard not to enjoy.  30 degrees and sunny makes for quite a pleasant day on the hill.  The heat has not hurt the snow up high and the wind has kept the bowl nice and smooth.  All the north facing shots are still dry and chalky with pockets of powder.  The morning is not the best time to go down the lower faces, but the groomers like Slalom have been going off.  In the afternoon, there is great spring snow down low.  Also, who doesnt like a good sunny warm apres session?
