How Skiers Play Golf | High Fives Annual Golf Tournament

The Golf Club at Gray’s Crossing in Truckee CA was generous enough to let High Fives Foundation host it’s first annual golf tournament. Fortunately, the sun came out and melted off the few inches of snow by the afternoon.Tuns of fun was had for a great cause and some of Tahoe’s favorites came out to play. This tournament was played a little unorthodox, as you will see a rowdy Team America and an injured Cody Townsend heckle to the extreme.

Five Year Redemption | Roy Tuscany

Five years to the day of Roy Tuscany’s back injury, he returns to Mammoth Mountain CA to get his redemption. Since his injury, Roy has relearned how to walk and how to ski. He is the founder of the High Fives Foundation, a non profit that he started after his own spinal cord injury.

For those of you not familiar with Landon, he is a High Fives Foundation athlete from British Columbia, who has had the chance to learn how to sitski with instruction from Bill Bowness of Far West Disabled Sports at Alpine Meadows. Here Bill discusses his involvement with DSFWUSA and the steps that Landon has taken to achieve his goal to reach the 2014 Paralympic games in Sochi, Russia.

High Fiver Grant Korgan Redeemed

Exactly one year to the day since Grant’s life-altering injury,  is back on a snowmobile and just crushing it. With High Five Foundation and his closest friends and family by his side, he has accomplished so much in a short 365 days and shows no sign of stopping. Grant is currently working with two-time Paralympic gold medalist John Davis in northern Norway, where they are training for an unbelievable trek to the South Pole this coming year. They will be accompanied by ultimate bad-ass and guide extraordinaire Doug Stoup. We are pumped for you Grant!

High Fives Foundation Non-Profit Promo Video

It’s unfortunate that there are so many serious accidents in an industry that brings so much joy and happiness to so many (Two off the top of my head at this moment in time: Danny Toumarkine and Phil Hoban).  Roy Tuscany suffered a serious accident while skiing a few years back, and has since started High Fives Foundation, a non-profit 501.c.3 dedicated to helping winter sports athletes that have suffered a life-altering accident like himself.  Please share this video with your friends and family to help out this wonderful and generous organization.  Check them out on Facebook and Twitter.
