November 8th, 2012 by
0

This video is dedicated to all the lady shredders out there, because Fall of 2013 will showcase the release of what is expected to be the greatest all female ski film ever produced! And who else but Lynsey Dyer to be behind it! This trailer contains footage of freeski competitions, athlete training, previous year’s female segments, and a jaw-dropping 50+ foot backflip! (at 1:08).

From Lysney and Unicorn Picnic:

“ Pretty faces is an all female ski film featuring the best athletes from around the world in celebration of playing outside, pushing the sport and living up to our fullest potential as a supportive community. Inspired by the desire to offer young girls role models and inspiration to play outside, this film aims to capture all the girl stoke from the pioneers who have paved the way to the “never-evers” who will continue to define what it means to ski like a girl.

We are honored and humbled to have the support of generously donated action footage from film partners such as Rocky Mountain Sherpas, Teton Gravity Research, Salomon Freeski TV/Switchback Entertainment, Warren Miller, Mountain Sports International, Orage, Patagonia, Wink Inc, First Ascent, Red Bull, Girls Do Ski, Jeff Brings, Early ups, Rob Kingwill, Avalon Seven, KGB, Storm Show and many more.

Created by Lynsey Dyer, the sisterhood continues on it’s journey embodying the grace and elegance as well as the fierce tenacity and wild dreams that push us not only beyond our own personal comfort zones but on a quest to help young girls and women experience their own power with mountains as the muse.

Song: Metric, Dreams so Real

Stay Tuned for the feature film coming FALL 2013.”

Alpine Meadows Air Time For The Rainy Day

May 26th, 2012 by

Finally, Spring is here!

Boats are getting back into the water, bikes are dusted off, and oh that’s right…snow! Today, rain checks were issued to most everyone wanting some outdoor activities. Stuck indoors today? Surfing the web instead of the wake? The time is perfect to sneak in a snow teaser.

Here’s a video edit from Alpine Meadows the weekend before closing. Slushy snow, slow park runs, and dirty groomers. A couple Alpine locals let me follow them around, get in the way, and collect some footage. Not sure who the backflip crasher is at the end. Post his name for credits if you recognize him. Thanks for your contribution random crashing skier guy!

Looks like the weather is getting better for the later part of the weekend. …a peek at Tahoe City’s weather!

Enjoy this in the meantime!

SNOWBIRD IS NOW CLOSED | Closing Weekend Video

May 14th, 2012 by

Well, that’s that, the ski season is over.  It’s time to put your fart bags away and start to bike and climb and enjoy the warm weather.  Maybe even get some sun on your cheeks… (32 seconds)  Hopefully everyone made it up to Snowbird at some point over the weekend.  The atmosphere was filled with good vibes and  the excitement flowed all around.  All weekend long Leroy’s Lip, a.k.a The Wave, was going off with everything from huge straight airs to corked spins and painful crashes!  In addition to The Wave, the pond skim at the bottom of Anderson’s Hill provided much excitement and for some a cool off from the sun.

Jay Dash was out Saturday and Sunday taking photos, so if you see yourself in any clips go find them at PowderShots.com.

There is 6-months until next season, what are you going to be doing?

23BACKFLIPS – The New Guy at Squaw

April 17th, 2012 by

Howdy!

I’m Rob Thomas, the new reporter on the block here at UnofficialSquaw. I am now “Officially Unofficial”. Maybe I should trademark that. Someone could use it on a website years from now. I’d get all pissy and file a Cease and Desist order. Then things would just get all weird. Oh, Who am I kidding? That would never happen here in America. Freedom of speech, yada yada and all that right?!

One of my favorites at 3:38

To some this may be a trophy and to others a thorn. But, after all is said and done…I’m internet famous now and I want to share it with others. “23 Backflips” is a collection of clips that friends sent me over the years. The files just sit on my computer getting dusty. I needed to do something with them. They’re all different sizes and qualities. So, I threw them together and added a new clip of my own. Stir in a kickin’ soundtrack. Come on, you know you love it! Plus, this mishmash of clips may make a few friends happy to be internet famous also.

Insane Gravity Defying Acrobatic Skills | Backflip-1440s on Your Feet!

March 23rd, 2012 by

Double backflips to front flips all day long.  Brandon McCuien is even pulling off backflip-1440s (that’s 4 spins).  If this doesn’t impress you, nothing will.

This video might freak you out a bit.  It’ll get you fired up and want to start doing something that involves air time.  I can’t help imagining what this guy could do on skis…

This all went down at LoopKick 2011 freerunning expo.  Freerunning is cool.

Deep Pow and Backflipping The Goods | Jackson

March 22nd, 2012 by

The season has come back once again for the folks in Jackson.  During an on and off season, Tim Swartz is always there to take advantage of the on times.  This is a little clip of a warm up run in some of Jackson’s amazing sidecountry. A nice run with untouched pow and a solid backflip is a great way to start the day.  This video is very enjoyable to watch except for the couple tracks that were crossed around second 38.  What a good way to ruin a run.

Tom Wallish 4 Huge Gorgeous Backflips in a Row

February 20th, 2012 by

This is Tom on a practice run at the X games this year.  He gets squirrelly off the first rail, then just decides to get Backflip crazy on the course.  He goes for 4 huge, gorgeous backys in a row.  The angle that it’s filmed from gives you a creative perspective on what it’s like to get that upside down.

The landings kinda look hard from this view, huh?

Mini Flips | Whistler Mountain

December 6th, 2011 by

It’s been 10 days since we’ve seen any snow in Whistler.  People are changing.  Some of our friends appear to be clinically depressed, but here at the Unofficial Whistler house we’ve just resorted to drinking, lots of drinking. However we still find time to ski, and skiing is fun. Here’s a short video of us just having fun doing small flips off a little lip. Skiing never gets old!
