AK // Our Way | Dubsatch Collective TEASER

October 31st, 2012 by

After Dubsatch Collective dropped their rad short film ‘Baker‘ last week, they turned their attention to their next upcoming short film titled: “AK // Our Way”. Here is the teaser trailer for the next instalment of Dubsatch Collective‘s impressive assortment of edits and short films.
Highlights include unreal POV shots of riding AK spines and a hilarious face plant at 1:45.

Leo Ahrens from Dubsatch Collective description:

“It’s not everyday you get a phone call saying there is an empty seat in a heli with your name on it, so when Lexi Dupont called up Colter Hinchliffe and I (Leo Ahrens) with that very offer, we didn’t even think twice about pulling the trigger. Even if it did mean we only had 24 hours to travel 2000 + miles to Haines, Alaska.

This wasn’t your typical AK film trip by any means. We cycled our roll from athlete, to guide, to cinematographer in order to document this Alaskan cherry popping experience. Maybe not the preffered method of action but for us it was perfect. For us it was AK // OUR WAY”

John and Eric Jackson just released the fifth episode from their new series, Brothers on the Run. This episode features some mountaineering adventures in Alaska:

It’s springtime in Alaska, and John and Eric are eager to get some fresh powder riding in before snow season is over. They rally up the troops and head out on a 4-day mountaineering trip, where the clear conditions allow them to get some fun lines in. After some fresh snowfall, the boys hit one of the best kickers of the season, putting the perfect end to their last snowboarding session in the state of Alaska. The boys will now venture down south, and it’s time for the Jackson brothers to kick off their boots and put on their board shorts for summer.

For more Brothers on the Run, check out their past episodes:     Episode Two     Episode Three     Episode Four

Stay tuned for episode 6, when they head down into to British Columbia for some riding at Baldface Lodge.

Winter’s Not Over Yet… Still Skiing Powder in AK | May 18th

May 19th, 2012 by

Winter is still going strong up here in Alaska. Low pressure last week brought quite a bit of snow up high, and there is still plenty of powder to be had up there. This video is from May 16th through 18th on Turnagain Pass on the Kenai Peninsula. This winter has been all-time in Alaska, and with a top-up in mid-May, it keeps getting better. We are back in some low pressure now, so hopefully there will be another refresh up high when it clears.

Dubsatch Alaska Trip Episode 2

April 19th, 2012 by

In mid-January as the winter in Utah seemed to have forgotten to show up for the year, three members of the Dubsatch collective  took matters into their own hands and headed to Alaska in search of snow and epic winter adventures. You were all informed of this excursion, but now the video edits from the trip are beginning to surface.

This is episode 2 and gets into some bigger lines and away from the camping scene. The snow is still not ideal but the mountains are amazing and the emphasis put on filming and editing on a low budget trip definitely shows in the video. It’s fun to watch and tells a great story; the goal of any edit.  I hope there is an episode 3.

Ever wonder what it is like to stare down AK spines?

February 26th, 2012 by
0

This is an interesting pov of big mountain skiing not generally seen in videos.  All the little things matter, like chunking off a piece of cornice, the classic pole tap and the skillz to stare down a big Ak face and still make slasher turns.  Sage is the master of all things snow.  Drop lines not Bombs.

Skip to 2:09 for the skiing.
