With a rare combination of stability at speed and  playfulness, the Bibby Pro absolutely kills it in powder and crud, while holding its own on hard pack and even in … Read More

French Ski Base with a HUGE AVALANCHE!!!

When I first started watching this clip, I thought it was just another run of the mill POV shot.  Things get a little better as the pitch steepens, and the skier is elevated on a pretty sweet looking spine, then all of a sudden the spine ends.  Alright, I guess that was a pretty sweet ski base after all, nicely done.  Then he turns and looks back as he’s gliding down and HOLY S*#T!!!  Check it out

Dog Tomahawks 500 Feet Down Chute – Dog-A-Hawk

Ever seen a dog fall 500+ vertical feet while doing no fewer than 12 tomahawks?  Not only have I never seen a dog do 12 tomahawks in a row, I’ve never seen any animal do 12 tomahawks in a row.  It was a true phenomenon now commonly known as a dog-a-hawk.  In reality, she did more than 12 full tomahawks.  It’s just that in this video we are only able to count 12.  It’s clear that she’s been tomahawking for a while before she comes into view.

Donner Peak or The Chimney?

February 28th, 2011 by

Note:  All skiing in this video is Adam Ruscitto.

It was between The Chimney and Donner Peak today.  Both good options; both can get your heart pumping.  I chose Donner.  I think it was the right choice simply because I had a blast out there with my buddy Adam Ruscitto (Yes, he wears the same outfit as me).  We got up on top of our line in a howling wind early this morning.  The upper portion of the peak had been wind scoured badly during a recent east wind.  But, after those first coupla’ turns, it was perfect.

Popping Pill….ows in California’s Double Secret Location

January 6th, 2011 by

I WANNA TALK TO ALL OF YOU ABOUT DOING DRUGS – but instead – I’ll just let the Violent Femmes talk to you about doing too many drugs.

The snow in the backcountry ain’t gettin’ no worser.  For day 3 we choose the Double Secret Location, which seemed a natural choice after skiing the Triple Secret Powder Location yesterday.  At this point our skiing has become so clandestine that we’re basically just getting lonely out there and can’t wait to ski the Single Secret Location tomorrow.  Because that will seem pretty public at this point.

In this video:  Adam Ruscitto ripping a couple laps on Double Secret.  and some other schmo.  January 6th, 2011.

Mike Wilson 100′ Double Back…and other California shenanigans

December 27th, 2010 by

It was another showdown at Squaw Valley USA today. Yet another one of those days when you’re STOKED that you’re not at Whistler, Jackson, Telluride, Stowe, or god forbid…Snowbird. It’s real simple, we’re just cooler here. I mean…we are Californians after all. Perfect powder, warm California sunshine, hot girls, plenty to huck yourself off, and one helluva show going on at all times right in front of you. Combine all that with blackout dates that have all the local rippers on the sidelines right now and you’ve got yourself a nice little holiday. So yeah, what the hell? Lets do it all again with 2 more feet of perfect California snow by Thursday morning? I think I’m okay with that.
