If you have not skied Sugar Bowl you’re missing out BIG TIME. I headed over to Sugar Bowl today to check out the conditions and survey the course for this weekend’s Rahlves Banzai Silver Belt. As it turned out, both were thoroughly impressive.

Most of the terrain had been skied out but the crud was skiing very well and the groomers were A+. The Backcountry gates were open and everyone was raving about how great the skiing was but I was flying solo so no BC for me today.

This is what a typical lift line looks like at Sugar Bowl during the week.

Look at how gnarly The Rahlves Banzai Silver Belt course is looking! This is going to be one hell of a show that you do not want to miss. Time trials are on Saturday and the main event will be on Sunday with an after party full of libations.

You really owe it to yourself to check out Sugar Bowl. It’s a super fun place to go skiing with a very comprehensive layout and loads of playful terrain.

i was there wed for the brunt of the storm and all was open, unlike kirkwood that was mostly closed. I’m going for the sugarbowl pass next year and just get the 50$ budy tickets for kirkwood or wherever

Did you just move to the Tahoe area? I’m not trying to be negative, but Sugar Bowl has had good terrain, good snow, and relatively no crowds since I was skiing there in 1994. This piece makes it sound like you rolled into California two weeks ago.

“Rip the Bowl?” Okay fine, it Is REALLY cute. Kinda like dating an 18 year old when you’re 40. It’s fun to feel like a big fish in a little pond.
