Question: Why don’t more Park Skiers Rollerblade?

Let it be known that skateboarding and rollerblading have ALMOST nothing to do with skiing or snowboarding. It seems as if the snowboarders that wear the “Thrasher” or whatever hoodies when they ride are the most apt to become butt hurt when a skier tries to pull of the “skate style.” Stop trying so hard you dooshers. Skiing has been around long before skateboarding, blading, or snowboarding. Therefore, you’re all actually copying skiing. Stop being a bunch of piseed off kooks and have fun.

you, kind sir / madam, are missing the point. “in-line skating” gives the user the exercise and the possibility to cross-train when there is no snow.
Skateboarding came around well before snowboarding, yet Surfing spawned Skateboarding.

even if it looks gay, and it surely does at times imo, I give the guy in the video credit. He pretty much slays, and if he chose to fruitboot instead of skateboard then fuck it who cares it’s his deal. To each his own; he makes it look pretty fun. For whatever reason its just not as thug/tight/chill/fresh as skateboarding, even though he is gapping some monster stair sets.
I took up skiing late in life (as in my mid-20s) and got decent pretty fast and currently don’t totally suck at it. As lame as it might be I honestly owe it all to rollerblading when I was a kid since I already knew what it felt like to stay centered and go fast. Edging was sort of new but it was a shit-ton easier to learn.
By the way rollerblading isn’t as gay as people think…. Or maybe it is. Whatever…. I don’t really give a shit what you think is gay (welcome to being a f’n adult).
Anyone who says that blading is gay is too self conscious. It is honestly one of the hardest things i have ever tried and i have so much respect for those who are this good. to each his own. Show some respect as well.

Really? I haven’t been on blades since 1999ish and it was pretty harsh. Whenever I showed up at a new park I had to take a lot of shit. Once you start throwing down some cool tricks it goes away, but it was pretty annoying. It’s good to hear that is starting to change. I wish I would have kept blading after seeing this video.
And by the way, I could do some pretty cool stuff, lots of rails, switch 900s… but I can’t do shit in a park on skis. Maybe because it has been so long.

I look at it like this, rollerblading is like being a ski bum in your late 20s +. its fucking fun if your doing it, but everyone else thinks you are a jackass. Im guessing most ski bums dont give a fuck what people, just as rollerbladers prob don’t either. Who really knows what the purpose of life is, so do weird sports, don’t give a fuck and have fun. Oh and occasion lie about being a ski bum and/or rollerblader if it can bag you a hot chick or two.
Skateboarder: I just 360 flipped that 5 stair. Took all day but I got the clip.
Biker: I just 3 whipped that 10 stair. Took a couple tries but I got the clip.
Blader: I just 180′d, 540′d, and fakie sevened that 20 stair. All first try. Got 3 clips. Let’s skate the rail now. 360 topsoul… first try.
I always enjoy reading about people hating on sports by ranting about how gay it looks. Too bad all the riders who speak with such ignorance are truly pathetic individuals. Narrow-sighted and lacking in real depth of character and humility. But amongst the competitors in the My-Sport-Is-Better pissing contest I wanted to point to an alarming fact. The rollerblader is usually the most consistent, biggest gapping, and most tolerant of the other sports. I don’t speak in absolutes but that’s the usual. Who do you emulate or look up to? Do those people show their bigotry on their sleeve as well? Small viewpoints breed small people.
ps. I blade and ski in the off season. Just to turn the question on its head.
It’s Really sad to see people consistently talk shit about Rollerblading , being called “gay/weak/easy”. I’m a blader and to gain a style like b smith it’s really hard to obtain. I had friends clown on me so hard about rollerblading to be so “Easy” yet when they put on a pair of skates they can’t skate or stand for shit. So if rollerblading were that “EASY” everyone in the world could skate like b smith. I can skateboard i’m not great at it nor i’m completely incompetent at that sport. I’m going off a rant but to hate on “rollerblading” so bad that people jump them just because they blade and they don’t fully understand, is just as bad as a hate crime or being a racist
