Dutch Cross-Country Ski Police – we’re not really sure how fast is too fast on cross-country skis

In the U.S. ski patrollers might snag your lift ticket, and if you really screw up call the police. But in most European countries, undercover policemen roam the slopes, and can fine you on the spot. In Switzerland you can be arrested or fined up to $15,000 for skiing drunk and/or recklessly, giving lessons if you’re not a certified instructor, placing others in avalanche danger, and being an ass while waiting (or not waiting) on line.

In Sochi, Russia skiing officers successfully lobbied to patrol on snowboards, and in the case of high-speed pursuits on snowmobilesrt.com

Grindelwald, the first European resort to have enforced speed limits, has 30km/h (19mph) speed limit posts on some trails. How do they measure that?

    LMAO

At Ski Bowl on Mt. Hood we have the “warming hut” half way down the main run! Its basically a huge fireplace and a bar serving warm hard alcohol to chilly skiers and snowboarders.

    Take that!

Isn’t a Dutch policeman. Not just because we don’t have snow in Holland, but also because his jacket isn’t Dutch.

Makes sense to fine people for skiing drunk who might potentially harm others…. Makes absolutely no sense to fine/arrest people for skiing out of bounds in areas that do not compromise safety of on piste zones. Plain and simply put, euros have sensible laws, americans are fucking stupid

“plain and simply put, euros have sensible laws, Americans are fucking stupid”… Go fuck yourself! It you don’t like America, then get the fuck out! There’s plenty of ski areas that let you ski out of bounds. To say “Americans are stupid” over a post like this shows your true ignorance. Dumb euro ass!

Euros have so many laws that their citizens don’t know how to do anything once they travel out of their little bubbles. Do us a favor, make all the laws you want to avoid being hurt in any way shape or form and let us drink our coors light while we’re skiing.
