Filmed at Stevens Pass, WA on February 23rd and 24th 2013.
Videography: Daniel Silverberg, Joey Mara
Rider: Joey Mara

The nights of December 6/7th 2012 70+ inches of snow deposited at Stevens Pass in Washington. Nearly 5 feet overnight Friday at the summit. To say we entered the “white room” would be an understatement. This was, THE WHITE HOUSE!! Filmed with GoPro Hero 2 and 3.

Stevens is f*ckin sick! I’m not sure how people can hate on it or the PNW snow in general. I was there in mid December and and it was dumping and cold. When we showed up they already had like 200 inches or so on the year. And why would you want really dry pow? I like a little bit of moisture in there for bouncing off boulders and getting a grip on the steeps. Saw Gigi in the parking lot that day, they seemed to be having a good time!

When will the GoPro videos stop? I’m tired of looking at ski and snowboard tips. I was at Stevens that day, too, though. It definitely wasn’t cement.

How hard is it to ski down a mellow slope that has 40 feet of pillows to bottom out? In Colorado you couldn’t always just huck yourself or drop pillows because there are A) 2-3,000 more feet of STEEP vertical left and B) terrain that was steep enough to avalanche.

I get the vibe that these PNW videos are 3 second shots of pillow lines with a shitload of mellow terrain edited out. Go ski the steeps and then get back to the internets on technical lines — anyone can jump into a pile of powder.

In Colorado you can’t huck yourself into some powder because there isn’t any to huck into so STFU. I’m sure the snow is much lighter outside of PNW. Has to be much lighter when there is so much less of it. And sick steep lines? Ya for mountain biking. I’ll be here all week.

Haters gonna hate. PNW is BY FAR the best place I’ve rode. Lived in CO, CA, OR, WA, BC, and South America.

It’s just supposed to be a fun video. Not that serious. The riding out here in Washington is not very good so I would stick to wherever you are from. Anywhere is better than WA.

    Yup,
Wa has tiny flat mountains, the snow sucks, there are never avalanches. You never have to worry about cornices, tree wells or cravases, and the night life in Seattle sucks compared to the great multi-cultural life in Denver, and the seafood sucks too.

Everyone who’s been to WA and lives there knows this, no reason to go there, stay far far away.
