When other ski resorts were letting their snow melt away in the summer heat, the Norwegian resort Trysil covered up their remaining snow with wood chips to preserve it through the summer. This past weekend Trysil unveiled the snow and allowed skiers and riders to enjoy last year’s snowpack for FREE! People apparently came from as far as Oslo and Sweden to slip and slide on the season old snow.

“This is the first time we’ve tried this and it worked as planned. Our guests are happy, that’s the most important thing,” said the Snow and Land Manager at Skistar Trysil, Wegard Matsson.

Trysil is one of the first ski areas to open for the 2012- 2013 Northern Hemisphere season. The resort’s plans is to open more terrain on November 3rd.

Trysil will be open until the snow is gone, so get to Norway and make some turns!
