**UPDATE** @ 3:30 pm May 22nd, 2012:
According to the El Dorado Country Sheriff’s Office: dive team search and rescue personnel located the male skydiver’s body in 15 feet of water between Pope Beach & Camp Richardson in South Lake Tahoe at approximately noon today.
The deceased man’s parachute did deploy. It is currently unknown why the two men did not make it to the beach for their landing.
The deceased man is believed to be from South Lake Tahoe. His identity has not yet been released.

The Eldorado County Sheriff’s Deputies have confirmed that the missing skydiver was found deceased in Lake Tahoe. It’s reported that the skydiver was attempting to make it to the shore but was blown further out into the lake by the wind.
Three skydivers jumped from a helicopter this morning at 8am. One landed on Pope Beach near South Lake Tahoe, CA. The other two landed in the lake. One of skydivers made it to shore, the other unfortunately perished in the lake.
We are very sad to report this news. Condolences.

There is currently a missing skydiver in Lake Tahoe, CA.
Three skydivers jumped from a helicopter over Lake Tahoe at 8am this morning. They jumped somewhere above South Lake Tahoe’s Pope Beach.
Two of the three skydivers landed in the waters of Lake Tahoe while the third jumper landed on the beach. One of the two skydivers that landed in the water successfully made it to shore. The other skydiver that landed in the lake has not been found. The missing man is reported to be from the Lake Tahoe area.
Police are currently searching for the missing skydiver in Lake Tahoe and its shoreline. Search crews include the US Coastguard, El Dorado County Sheriff, Douglas County fire and rescue personnel, CALSTAR and Douglas county helicopters, as well as all available boats in the area.
The other two skydivers have refused to comment on the incident to the press.
We very much hope that this skydiver is found alive and well.

North Tahoe local- Jay Abdo. Resort Marketing Exec. He will be missed by many.
It was a friend of many of us and a South lake local, not Jay. Many of us are saddend by this news and wish the best to his wife an infant.

the same thing almost happened in north lake a few years back when jim rippey and another guy landed in the lake during the winter and almost died.
