For anyone considering a ski trip down south this summer, Las Leñas is offering some pretty decent prices at the moment, if you book (and pay) by August 3. You get 25% off on hotel packages for the weeks beginning on August 4 and 11.
For example, this puts the price of a bed in a triple in Aries (similar pricing at Acuario as well) at 5400 Pesos, just under $1200 USD, for 8 days of skiing, 7 nights lodging, breakfast and dinner, and amenities.
In comparison, here are your standard budget options:
Cap Hostel: $1,000 USD 7 nights and 8 days, with breakfast. No dinner or amenities, and your 15+ minute drive from Las Leñas
The Gringo Ghetto: $800 USD (rough estimate, depends on who you stay with, etc) 7 nights lodging, 8 day passes, food from the grocery store. But, it’s called the ghetto for a reason – it’s not for everyone.
So, for any extra couple hundred, you get to stay in a nice hotel with amenities, food, and essentially at the base of a ski lift.
They are also offering discounts on some other things – flights to Malargue, ski school and gear rentals, etc.

o wow 20% off, alert the online ski media outlets!
hey lee – i’m heading to las lenas a week from today with my boyfriend, we’re both ex-jacksonites, he was a snowboard instructor there for a couple seasons…checking out lodging options and all i could find (for cheap) was the cap hostel, still seems pretty spendy. what’s up with the gringo ghetto and how can i hook that up? i live in argentina and speak spanish, for whatever that’s worth…. mind shooting me an email?? much appreciated!

Hey Lee,
Im thinking of heading down Aug 4 for a night or two. How are the conditions? I only have a day or two to ski and don’t want to make the trek if its not worth it. I sent you an email so hopefully you can get back to me. Thanks!
