TO say I dont envy his life would be bullshit. He has earned everything he has.

    awesome

getting older sucks, but the one cool thing about it, is you do the hike and take that one run and you are happy about it, don’t need to lap the mountain anymore.

What the hell are talking about? Jones is not young but he can ride with the best skiers in the world still..u think he rides a split cause hes old..The only reason Jeremy rides a split instead of a copter is to promote and sell morre splits..

ever think that he rides backcountry because he got sick of being shuttled to the top of lines by elite means? hes going grassroots and earning his turns. his films show how it is possible with your own two legs, and im sure he revels in the feeling of each turn after hammering his way up a face. selling boards is a plus, not the motivation im sure. Go Jones! and representing Mt Rose (tamarack) in this story.

no doubt he’s a badass. But his age is showing in his riding. No hating here I think JJ is badass and this hiking thing was a brilliant idea that is working well for him,but truth be told there are other big mtn guys who are better. Sorry JJ fan boys it’s just the way it works.

If his age is showing, then too must Xavier De Le Rue’s Age…since he’s only like 3 years younger than JJ.

Since you obviously know… name 5 big mtn riders that are “better” and what makes it true.

btw, I don’t need to be a fanboy to spot a hater.

Travis Rice, Sammy Luebke, Mitch Toelderer, Ralph Backstrom and the rest of the jones snowboard team.
Sorry, people just get less rad with age, it’s the way of the world. New kids will come up and take out all these guys too. Why does it bother you so much? also for the record Xavier is gnarlier than JJ but why did you bring him up?
were you also this mad when Jeremy took out Tom Burt?

The only thing that bothers me is when internet critics start retiring people with their expert opinions. Doesn’t matter the sport… it’s just lame to downgrade someone that is still riding at a world class level just because they aren’t new anymore.

Johan Olofsson was always way more technical and ripped harder, but now is off no-boarding because he broke himself too many times. A lot of big mountain riders come and go, and JJ is still there… still leading… so whats being a new guy? Like you said, there will always be some new guy.

and I bring up Xavier because he’s usually the go-to guy when people talk about how JJ is getting old, so I just wanted to shoot that one out of the water to begin with.

Of course all the guys you listed are amazing, but only time will tell how many of them will still be relevant 20 years into their pro career. BTW, Tom Burt is still relevant, still riding.

Totally agree that tb still rips and is still relevant. But he also stepped aside in a certain sense. I’m not claiming to be on expert or retire anyone, just saying my opinion. I like Jeremy, I think he has done and continues to do a lot For the sport. Your opinion about Johan is on point. As a matter of fact I think a lot of riders from that era could have been in this position that Jeremy is in if they kept riding. Noah salasnek in particular comes to mind, Ripped big lines with so much style, and in my opinion better than JJ.
Much respect to Jeremy for never stopping and having a great work ethic and marketing himself and his niche in the snowboard world. As for the deeper further stuff, it’s ok but I personally don’t give a shit how anyone gets up the mtn. I’d rather see crazy lines done with style.

They are on Mt Rose HWY in Tahoe, I used to park at that same place in 2004 when I first got into splitting. Good times, great views! After I was finished I would roll back into Incline Village for a Tri Tip Burrito from mutha effin T’s!!!!

The thing that is great about JJ is that he is giving back country snowboarders cred. When I first started splitting a lot of skiers would turn their noses up at us. JJ is showing us all what is possible when you are willing to hike for your turns. Love it.
