Every year there’s stupid commercials with cars on some snowy mountain that makes no sense. This one’s no different. In the end this is what happens every time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZkErHxFGkE

I would not trust the SAHARA edition in the snow covered mountains.

The only thing irresponsible about this ad is that the Jeep is traveling in avalanche terrain without an ABS pack.

Next year I plan to summit Everest in my slightly modified (3.5 in lift) Rubicon. It is all about the ability to lock your diffs and run lower psi in your tires. It has driver and passenger side airbags, so even if the avalanches are big, we will just float to the top.

I’m not sure when this ad came out, but just last month I rode past some idiot in a 4-door wrangler driving down the trail at the bottom of West Bowl at Sierra-at-Tahoe. He stopped in the middle of the run and ran to the liftie and told him that he had made a wrong turn or something and drove down the entire snow-covered access road and onto the ski trails before realizing his mistake. Maybe people are more impressionable than we think.

that commercial has been on during the x games for at least three years… I would hope any real skier/boarder/person who spends time in the mountains would be able to know that it is unrealistic… the scary thing is people who know nothing about avalanches or even skiing in general see it and think its reality… and that blame rests with them more than jeep for making a totally fictional (and in my opinion hilariously stupid) commercial to sell their product

My parents live in Mammoth. Not sure if it is this add or another but, when filming what little is real they had a tow truck on location go pull them out when stuck, which was often.
