Every year there’s stupid commercials with cars on some snowy mountain that makes no sense. This one’s no different. In the end this is what happens every time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZkErHxFGkE
Next year I plan to summit Everest in my slightly modified (3.5 in lift) Rubicon. It is all about the ability to lock your diffs and run lower psi in your tires. It has driver and passenger side airbags, so even if the avalanches are big, we will just float to the top.
I’m not sure when this ad came out, but just last month I rode past some idiot in a 4-door wrangler driving down the trail at the bottom of West Bowl at Sierra-at-Tahoe. He stopped in the middle of the run and ran to the liftie and told him that he had made a wrong turn or something and drove down the entire snow-covered access road and onto the ski trails before realizing his mistake. Maybe people are more impressionable than we think.
that commercial has been on during the x games for at least three years… I would hope any real skier/boarder/person who spends time in the mountains would be able to know that it is unrealistic… the scary thing is people who know nothing about avalanches or even skiing in general see it and think its reality… and that blame rests with them more than jeep for making a totally fictional (and in my opinion hilariously stupid) commercial to sell their product
My parents live in Mammoth. Not sure if it is this add or another but, when filming what little is real they had a tow truck on location go pull them out when stuck, which was often.
it clearly says closed course
so in addition to a beacon shovel probe and education now i need an airbag AND a jeep.?
sheesh ill just do inbounds laps this is getting out of hand
There is no way that is real
It IS real!!!
Real and no more irresponsible than the subliminally message filled hard liquor adds I need to sheild my 4yr old from

Not if you have a Carib(ou). It airs, has great float in the pow and can get you snow cones and dancing hatted Japanese gangsters apparently.
See for yourself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFhzWyjnIhA
Stupid, yes? Irresponsible? Maybe if you are dumb enough to believe its possible.
Kind of reminds me of this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0DefiYiEF4E
No way, i’ve used my jeep to escape many an avalanche.
I would not trust the SAHARA edition in the snow covered mountains.
It’s a Jeep thing. I don’t understand.
Sooooo stupid but no more then the military recuitment adverisements.
Yep!
I dont think so. It’s just an ad. A stupid one.
The only thing irresponsible about this ad is that the Jeep is traveling in avalanche terrain without an ABS pack.
